Patriots let Welker walk.

well that isn't 100% true I don't think. I think Welker walked is a more accurate assessment. They tried to re-sign him and Lloyd, but were unable because their cap is shit. Lloyd may return but their WR situation is awful, and their only big signing was 33 year old washed up Adrian Wilson and the awful Aqib Talib - again, unable to upgrade their terrible secondary (which could get even worse with injuries and jail time) because of their cap situation.

My google is broken. Did they franchise Welker like we did Spencer? Or did they let him walk?

Because I want to say they let him walk but I'm not one hudred percent on that.

They didn't have money to franchise him. They did it in 2012, and so would have had to pay the 125% increase or w/e, but they couldn't handle that, even after restructuring Brady's deal so that they are basically paying him a salary of like 2 dollars or some shit. Because, like alot of teams...including us...they have to play the money game while they have a top QB.

Obviously they should've restructured more people, like mediocre overpaid guards and the like.

Oh. That's right... the Patriots front office isn't run by a bunch of idiots like ours is.

They let him test the market. They didnt exactly "let him walk" though because they made multiple offers trying to keep him. The report was he left for slightly more money to go to Denver.

Patriots - a team coming off a SB appearance and AFCCG the past two years - let their best receiver walk as opposed to playing retarded cap games. They know how to build a team and contend.

Meanwhile, our collection of front office retards sacrifices future years in hopes of keeping this incredible collection of perenial 8-8 talent together.

Maybe they got tired of watching him drop clutch passes in big games. They also might not feel like he's an "elite" talent as much as he's in a really good system with a great QB.

And even then they still had to cheat to win those 3 Super Bowls, and all of them came down to the leg of the kicker.

What are you talking about? We upgraded from Gerald Sensabaugh to Will Allen. We also upgraded from Dan Connor to Justin Durant. Plus, we have a secret weapon(the draft) that no one else has, so we will get better. Plus, plus, plus Rod Marinelli. /dbair

Yeah maybe. Anyone can get those 100 receptions a year.

Meanwhile we had to keep Almost Anthony at ALL COSTS!

Stop saying they let him walk. That isn't true. They made the best offer they could, which wasn't good enough.

They had the option to fuck up future years by restructuring like we did.... but they're smart enough to know that's not sound cap management and elected not to.

So yeah, they let him walk.

@fishsports 9m The idea #cowboys are simultaneously orchestrating contracts for RTs Winston & Free is as idiotic as it is false.

I'll go real slow for you superpunk....

The Cowboys. They started the offseason 20 million over the cap.

Anthony Spencer - an irreplaceable dominant force coming off a one year streak of double digit sacks - had a deal that was up.

How on earth were they able to franchise Almost Anthony for the 2nd straight season?

By restructuring a bunch of players contracts, pushing 2013 money into future years.

Oh.

Must keep perenial 8-8 underachievers together!!!

Now...... the Patriots... having gone to the Super Bowl in 2011 and the AFCCG in 2012.

Best wide receiver. Averaging 112 receptions a year since becoming a Patriot in 2007.

Deal expires.

Patriots decide to LET HIM WALK as opposed to doing the same retarded thing we did - restructuring multiple contracts damaging the future cap but creating cap space this year.

One team has an intelligent front office.

The other team has Jerry and Stephen Jones.

Did you actually type that slowly? If you did it's weird that you continue to write "let him walk" rather than "got outbid because their cap is a mess and they couldn't afford him and also possibly because they offended him with how they managed his situation".

Maybe write slower?

They did let him walk.

They could've franchised him for a 2nd season.

You know, like we did with Spencer.

They had that option.

They chose not to take it.

You say that like they could afford to franchise him. They couldn't. He walked, but they didn't let him. They did everything they could to retain him, but because of their cap situation they were unable. Instead they're going to pay the shitty Danny Amendola nearly as much to be not as good.
