If only there was time period, maybe we could call it the off-season, where teams could address obvious and glaring holes in their line-up. That way they would not have to work out guys who aren't part of the 2,880 best football players in the world, aka guys on the 90-man rosters of the 32 teams.

Linebacker was an issue in the off-season. It's an issue now and it will still be an issue after we sign Emmanuel Acho or these other two JAG's.

.

Perhaps you should email the FO and fill them in. I know that worked for the green balloon guy.

Rolando McClain gained 40 pounds abusing 'purple drank,' report says | Sporting News
Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain is suspended for the first 10 games of the NFL season, hasn't shown up to training camp and reportedly is abusing a codeine-laced substance known as "purple drank."

If you haven't listened to a rap song within the last decade, purple drank is substance that involves prescription strength cough syrup, which contains codeine, and is often mixed with Sprite, giving it a purplish color. The drink has grown popular in recent years and is abused as a recreational drug.

According to Bleacher Report's Jason Cole, it sounds like McClain has developed an addiction to the drink.

McClain and Gregory have been placed on the reserve/did not report list.
McClain is one stupid fucktard.

As inept as our coaching and gm are, I really thought we'd be good this year, and we still might be. All depends on Tony.

But it feels like more lug nuts come off the wheels every other day.

You can't keep neglecting the defense with your main resources of talent addition and then expect it to play at an acceptable level.

Free agency?
Cedric Thornton was an upgrade over Hayden but who the hell isn't and why did it take you so long to figure out?
Benson Mayowa is not an upgrade over Hardy. This is the FO trying to be cute and appear clever.
The team had an easy out from Claiborne and Carr, yet rather than upgrade, they bring them both back.
McClain gets brought back despite staring at strike 3 and showing that he can't be depended on.

Draft?
I love Ezekial Elliott but it's dumb to use the 4th pick overall on a RB especially when you have money spent on McFadden and Morris to run behind the best O Line in football.
2nd round pick has no chance of contributing this year and may never play a down.
JAG, Tweener, JAG, JAG the rest of the draft.

Now your scrambling to find a linebacker with a pulse.

Even if the fanboy and team philosophy of "this offense will keep the defense off the field" works out, there is no chance this defense will stop a team when it matters and win close games. We are basically praying that two things have to happen for us to win all year: Romo has to stay healthy and Romo has to have the ball last.

This doesn't include Elliott (reportedly hamstring) or Kyle Wilbur (I read somewhere he was injured and didn't return, but have no idea what his issue was. Terrell McClain (who was reportedly impressvie for the first several days of camp) is also now hurt again (he is listed)

Like I mentioned in another thread, it amazes me year over year just how many guys miss practice time here OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Arnt you a champion of drafting BPA? Well Elliott was our BPA according to 1) the team said it after the draft and 2) the leaked draft boars shows him as the #1 player on the board.

He DOES improve the entire team because if he is as good as we all believe, he'll help immensely with ball control and scoring. I'm sorry, but McFadden and Morris are JAGS who can do ok because we di have a great OL. Elliott is a superb prospect who has no weakness in his game and unlike those two, has breakaway speed to turn 10-15-20 yd runs into 40-50-60 yd runs or TDS. He's also an exceptional goal line runner, and there is definitely something to be said for guys who have a knack for finding the endzone against stacked defensive fronts (think Emmitt and Marcus Allen to name two)

The rest of your post has merit, but the anti-Elliott reasoning is painfully lame IMO

So they wouldn't sweeten the pot enough to trade up for Paxton Lynch (who was rated very high according to our draft board) but then they'll use a 4th on Dak Prescott and now potentially invest another draft pick/s into a backup QB (after throwing away a pick for Matt Cassell)

Cowboys consider Nick Foles, making trade for backup QB

Ed Werder
ESPN NFL Insider

The Dallas Cowboys are considering the Nick Foles option but also discussing potential trades in response to losing backup quarterback Kellen Moore to a right leg fracture, a league source told ESPN's Ed Werder on Wednesday.

Foles bought his way out of his Los Angeles Rams contract last week and is an unrestricted free agent. The Cowboys discussed with the Rams their interest in trading for him but then drafted quarterback Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys have Wednesday off but probably need to add a quarterback quickly if they plan to continue giving starter Tony Romo every third day off.

Foles is represented by David Dunn, whose clients include Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

Among the quarterbacks the Cowboys could seek in a trade are the Cleveland Browns' Josh McCown and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Mike Glennon.

:facepalm

On Monday, J.J. Wilcox had the biggest hit of the day when he took out cornerback Josh Thomas. On Tuesday, the biggest collision was when safety Barry Church and cornerback Brandon Carr got together on a Romo throw to Bryant. Both were slow to get up but they were fine after practice.
