The game and those commenting on games has changed. So much in 40 years it's unreal, and not all for the better, but punters have become more accurate in punting to the center of the field and have the ball fair caught at the ten. It isnt as exciting as having the punter aim at the pylon and kick it out of bounds inside the one, but us old guys tend to forget how many times it went into the end zone and was brought out to the 20.

With everyone playing averages these days they prefer a consistent kick to the ten rather than getting it inside the five 1 out of five kicks. Todays punters kick farther have more hang time and more consistent with their kicks. Averaging 40 yds was once a good punter. Ray Guy who was the best punter most of us had ever seen had an average net of about 34 yes per punt, and an average distance of only 42 yards and he was considered to have an unbelievable leg. When abilities change so do tactics.

Situational punting still lives. After I posted that, they actually did two coffin corner punts and both worked like always. In the situation where they did not, they should have. There's still no excuse for them giving up a touchback in that situation.

It's called the extra point... Not field goal. Field goal is a play for 3 points. The kick that happens after a touchdown nets only one point. That is why it is called the extra point, or PAT which is Point After Touchdown. Not field goal.

That's NOT related to the TD tweet you posted! YOU added " field goal" yourself, to that TD tweet. Not the first time you've done it either.

Just admit you didn't know what an extra point is.
