the team should come out feeling much healthier. dak is a little banged up from the OT throw vs the pats but nobody is worried. tyron smith is banged up because he is tyron smith. DLaw coming back vs MIN?

also collins should be cleared from his suspension... do you take steele out ? if tyron is down, do you move steele to LT? or keep him there and move collins to LT ?

My prediction after the bye week. The Cowboys will lose 3 out of the next 4 games. Because Dak can't handle the pressure, he's not a a true leader, he panics and does bone headed shit to be the player, his entire Cowboy history backs this. Every time he has choked when the pressure is at it's greatest. Romo was another... Before Jerry Jones, The Cowboys have went to a NFC championship every three to four years, Super bowl every 5 years. It's now getting close to 30 years now for both. Jerry has systematically destroyed the Cowboys legacy over his ego, it's time for him to hire a real hands off general manager!

Oh, and several of the great players who won three out of four super bowls under Johnson were drafted by Tom Landry, Aikman and the play maker!!! *winks*

Landry didn't have any say in the draft. But your point is factual - there were still quite a few Landry holdovers in that SB 27 roster. Folks like Nate Newton. Bill Bates. Mark Tuinei. And so forth. Aikman was PLANNED to be our first pick in 89, but the Triumvirate was disbanded by the time that draft was realized. Intelligently, Jones and crew decided to follow the plan for the first pick, which was a no-brainer anyway.

Check out these stats for our defense. The benchmarks they are setting this season are much different than the all time historical record setting lows that they had last season.

‘✭Here are some facts about the Dallas Cowboys defense when trailing. The NFL's Bobby Belt drops some knowledge for Cowboys Nation.✭

✭When trailing, Dallas is allowing the fewest yards and points per drive in the NFL this season. They're allowing a first down on just 16.4% of their defensive snaps while trailing, which is also the best in the NFL.

✭Dallas is generating a turnover on 37.5% of their defensive drives when trailing. The next closest are the Cardinals and Colts at 25%.

They're allowing a score just 6.3% of the time. New England is 2nd at 20.8%

✭While the Cowboys defense has allowed its fair share of passing yards this season (30th in the NFL) their pass defense has been stellar while trailing.

Dallas' defense is allowing just 5.2 net yards per pass on 35 attempts. Their passer rating allowed is 55.7.

✭Cowboys pass defense while trailing this season

Pass plays: 39
First downs allowed: 10
Sacks/turnovers: 9

✭The one time Dallas allowed a score while trailing this season was a drive that began on their 35-yard line.

When trailing, Dallas is the only defense in the NFL this season not to allow a score when the drive starts in the opponent's territory.

✭A big reason why Dallas' defense is different this year is how they've played when they're trailing and the pressure is on.

They've gone from one of the worst defenses in the league in those situations in 2020, to the very best one in 2021.”

This info was from Bobby Belt at the Cowboys Nation show.

Aikman wasn't drafted by Landry or that regime.

love it but it sounds statistically extreme and unsustainable, I expect regression toward the mean (which still may be good enough or even very good)

In that you'll be hovering around where Jimmy's defenses were in 92, 93.

that would be a dream and an utter shock for this franchise since jeri ran him off
I agree with your scenario though. But I think the dropoff puts them well below the accomplishments of Jimmy's guys by end of season. But probably still pretty good nonetheless.
