It was an impressive effort especially considering he had not played DE since high school.

He was eons more effective that Randy Gregory was last week, although Gregory played against a top-notch Bucs OL and Brady and for most of the snaps Parsons was abusing a backup T for the Chargers.

Thought on the game yesterday:

1) Its a sorely needed win, but it honestly was a game neither team really deserved to win. Both teams made tons of mistakes and the coaching on our side was pretty pitiful in a couple key situations. The clock management was horrendous at the end of the game and Fat Mike tried to blame it on some some errors with the stadium or something. The bone headed special teams coach nearly cost us points before halftime by putting the punt block on (after we were going to get the ball with 2 mins to go) and of course predictably our guys roughed the punter and the Chargers just missed getting key points before half.

2) The defense had a couple nice takeaways and really good games from Parsons and backup safety Jayron Kearse, but overall the defense was not very good at all (as noted before the game, we were missing 4 or 5 starters on defense so that clearly had an impact). The Chargers got 400+ yards of total offense and 24 first downs, but had it not been for their 12 penalties (I think 8 or 9 on the offense) they easily would have gashed us for 500+ yards and 30+ pts. Defense managed to force one punt the entire game and that was negated by penalty.

3) Offensively it looked like we were going to easily rack up 30+ and maybe even hit 40+ early on, and then the team went into a slump. Prescott had one bad misfire that was picked off and was fortunate he got away with another bad redzone throw (he had two or three last week too). The team had mucho success running the ball (barely missing 200+ yds on the ground) and overall Prescott had a great game again, but we couldn't get TD's after getting two in the first quarter. Might have had three had it not been for the pick mentioned above. Getting Z Martin back was huge and while hordes of people (especially Zoners) were panicking over T Steele starting at RT, he appeared to have a really solid game even when matched up against Bosa 1 on 1. Martin also had one of the real unsung plays of the game by somehow recovering a Prescott fumble in the redzone, saving us 3pts.

4) Charger fans were claiming they were robbed, mostly because of the sack play Parsons got in the 4th qtr but it might have been intentional grounding anyway as I don't think the ball got back to the LOS. They had tons of offensive penalties called on them and many wiped out huge plays (including a TD) but replays showed the penalties were all pretty obvious. Of course they didn't care to note they stopped us on 4th down because their CB got away with obvious PI and Parsons was called for lining up offsides, when replay showed he wasn't. And while we did rough the punter it also appeared one of their guys was holding and actually ended up running that guy into the punter himself. Jayron Kearse also had a really nice INT negated by a somewhat dubious PI call.

5) Everyone wanted the guy gone after last week, but major props to Zuerlein for nailing a 56 yd FG in a game winning situation, when the coaches inexplicably botched the end of the game. Kick had plenty to spare too. Had the game gone to OT, I doubt we'd have won. Fat Mike owes Z bigtime.

6) For the most part Kellen Moore called another great game, but they need to scrap some of the little cutesy trick plays. They ran that play with the OT's wide and it worked, then tried to run it again a couple plays later and it resulted in a nearly 5yrd loss on 2nd and 5. Prescott also fucked up a drive by taking a stupid delay of game penalty in the 1st half when we still had timeouts to use. I also hate those "give-up" type plays where they throw the ball to receivers behind the line too much. Our WR's are too good to be wasting so many plays on throws at or behind the LOS. Some of them work, but several got stuffed for no gains or losses too.

7) You can tell the offense misses Gallup, but its sure nice to have Wilson and Brown as backups. i think Wilson could definitely start for some teams and Brown could probably be a good 3rd WR for some others.

1-1 is better than 0-2, but they have plenty of stuff to try and clean up and if they were smart (which they arnt) they'd be really working the phones to try and get a decent DT and maybe another CB. Watkins is a complete stiff at DT and while the rookie Odighizuwa shows some real flashes he probably isn't ready for fulltime duty yet. Getting Gallimore back will help, but even he is unproven. Diggs is a potential star in making at CB but Brown is horrible and J Lewis is no better than a 3rd or 4th CB. Our only other option at CB is currently hurt.

The Cowboys fans are now chanting “who’s house? Our House!”

This honestly feels like a Cowboys home game

That pretty much sums it up

What are you going on about Scot? He had 13 catches for 139 yards and 2 TDs on the road just last week.

Besides, of his 3 catches against the Chargers, one was a key 3rd down coversion that set up Pollard's TD. And another was a key reception on the game-winning drive.

Sorry, maybe streak was not the best term to use

How about overall shitty performance on away games in general.

He had one good away game since 2019. Then he follows it up with another typical no show with 3 catches for 24. And gets hurt to boot. Which is also typical.

He’s supposed to be our #1 WR. The game he had vs the Bucs “should” be his typical game. Not this no show bullshit that he is now known for on away games.

Our TE, and both of our running backs had better receiving stats for yesterday’s game than Coop had. Hell our fourth WR almost had better stats with 2 catches for 20 and 16 of those yards came off one single play.

Coop needs to show up every game as a #1 WR.

Cooper cant decide where Prescott throws the ball.

Some of it may have been dictated by coverages the Chargers were running as well. Even on a couple of balls he did catch he clearly had two guys on him.

He's a great player and is vastly underrated by many in the Cowboy fan base.

First of all, losing two guys off the DL actually improved it. Imagine that. The rookie LB #11 played DT and was energetic and actually recorded a sack. He was outweighed quite a bit by the blockers but managed to be effective. Plus his pursuit was outstanding.

We provided resistance, which is more than can be said for any game last year.
No, losing DLaw didnt improve anything football genius.

And #11 didn't play DT.

Typo. DE. I watched him the entire game.

Somehow we got more production out of this group than we ever see out of the defense line. Less was somehow more. It was obvious.

They averaged 5.0 yds per carry on run plays, we got two sacks (one might not have been a sack), no drives ended in punts. The other team probably lost at least 100+ yds on total offense on penalties and at least one or two tds because of said penalties.

And somehow you think we "got more production"

Been a long time since we had a CB with this kind of playmaking ability.

Chemistry baby. #11 had them worried with his quickness and pursuit. Game 'em hell. 8 pressures and a sack. Best DL performance we've had in years.

None of the other DE's did anything save maybe one play by Armstrong. The rookie DT had a couple nice plays but as a group they didn't do anything either.

Parsons had himself a game without a doubt, but it should be noted he played against a backup OT for the vast majority of his snaps too.

It must also be noted that Bosa (like Parsons) went against a backup OT for most of his snaps.

Steele had a really nice game.

I was addressing the falling apart of the Charger's offense in crunch time inside the red zone. It was #11 that caused them to lose their heads and commit penalty after penalty. They'd seen nothing like this in a long time. The dude was a whirling dervish and had them worried all day.

That outweighed him by at least 100lbs and has vastly more line experience.
