The 2027 season will have no impact on what pick the Jets get in this trade.

The options were picks in the 26 or 27 draft. It's a 2026 2nd rd pick and a 2027 1st rd pick. The 2027 season won't take place until after that.

That said, most people expect the Packers to be fairly decent for awhile. Like us, they have one of the younger rosters in the league.
I get your point, and you are right. The 2027 season would lead into the 2028 draft. The Packers should still be good in 2026.

There's some stuff to like (size, arm talent) but he's far from a sure thing and he definitely isn't in the NFL Tom Brady universe yet.

The scheme leads to many easy dink and dunk throws or throws to the sideline. He also looks like the typical college QB now where it's basically one read and throw.

We shall see. I'm going to check in on how he is doing here and there. Patrick Mahomes' coach calls him a "generational talent." But we all know that reading a defense and thinking fast has a lot to do with being great, and we won't know that until he faces top talent.

Hope the kid stays healthy.

Interesting, it appears as though the Cowboys were at least somewhat concerned a team would flip Parsons to the Eagles (several weeks ago it came out the Eagles had actually made a huge offer for Parsons before the Cowboys ever decided to trade him)

The previously unreported poison-pill condition states that if the Packers decide to trade Parsons to a team in the NFC East division -- the Eagles tried to trade for him last summer before being rebuffed -- then Green Bay would owe Dallas its 2028 first-round draft pick, sources involved in the trade told ESPN.

The poison-pill condition also was used on Kenny Clark, the other player involved in the trade, according to sources. If the Cowboys trade Clark to a team in the NFC North, they then would owe the Packers their 2028 first-round pick.

League sources said these poison-pill conditions clearly and smartly were put into place to block Parsons from winding up in Philadelphia, not far from where he grew up and one day wanted to play. The poison-pill conditions apply to this season and 2026, according to sources, meaning the Packers don't have a clear path to trade Parsons to another NFC East team until 2027 at the earliest.

I read that the "poison pill" applied to all NFC East teams, not just Philly.

The same applies to Kenny Clark.

The Packers cannot trade Micah to any NFC East team until after 2026.

The Cowboys cannot trade Kenny Clark to any NFC North team until after 2026.

Neither team can trade their 2028 first-round picks until the poison pill expires after 2026.

How bad is Juan Thornhill? Can he help? He'll likely go back to the Chiefs, but would he be worth a look if he is interested or is he washed?

47 million dollar man produced 2 tackles and 0 QB hits last night.

Parsons has had one really good and impactful game for them so far.

Long season so time for other big games still, but if we had made this type of trade and paid him this kind of money for what he has done so far fans would be major grumbling and the media would be frying Dallas over this.

He flushed Hurts out of the pocket more than once, so he wasn't a complete zero. Got away with a trip, though.

Of course he made his presence felt. He's too fast and strong to be 100 percent neutralized, but he didn't have a 47 million dollar impact either.

Really good QBs just get rid of the ball fast, or they get flushed out and then people say, "He hurried the passer." Ok, fine, but was it a completion?. If the QB completed it then what difference does it make if the QB threw it while running or from within the pocket?

I wonder how he'd play at MLB, which is where he primarily played at Penn State. Originally, I thought he would replace Sean Lee.

Wish we could have kept D-Law. I think losing D-Law was a bigger blow than losing Parsons because D-Law sets the edge and really helps against the run.

I hate to speak ill of the dead (unless it's Jerry) but Kneeland never came close to replacing him.

We tried it. He's a one trick pony in the pros.

Parsons is only useful if you have a good lead in the 4th quarter and you turn your front seven loose. close out the game. If you're behind teams just run right at him because he can't play the run. He can't do anything in coverage either.

I'm on record here liking Parsons. I think his skill set is rare and opposing teams have game plan around him and QB's must account for him on every play. Those types of players are not easily found.

Having said that, I wanted him gone after the stunts he pulled in front of a stadium full of people and a national audience. He has a .10 cent brain and Green Bay fans will grow tired of him soon enough.

I'm not sure if he was primarily moved to DE because we were hurting for pass rushers or because he sucked at MLB.

My gut tells me had he had more time at MLB he would have developed fine there because he played MLB really well at Penn State. He was a consensus top 10 pick with a couple people saying he should be the number 1 overall pick.

I think he didn't get to spend enough time at MLB. It's a position that requires smarts, not just skill. Typically the MLB is the QB of the defense.

Parsons has the size, speed and strength to excel there. IDK if he has the willpower to study film like Sean Lee did to be able to QB the defense. There wasn't a defensive coordinator or scheme that Lee didn't excel in. And that's because he put in the time in the film room. Injuries robbed him of a first ballot HOF career IMO.

So when we moved him to DE because of a need, and he was great, I think he developed a mindset of "all I want to do is get to the QB. That's how I'll make the most money".

I would say he isn't a weapon only in the 4th quarter. I would say his primary value comes when the team gets a lead and the other team has to throw. That could happen in the first quarter too. Actually, we've seen him wear down in the 4th and on one knee, gasping for air, when going up against Mialota.

How did the Eagles find Miolota?!

Correct.
Again, IDK that he even spent a solid preseason at MLB. Quinn seemed to have tried him at DE fairly quickly (again out of need for a pass rusher), had success, and the rest is history. Maybe my memory is off on that one.
