This would mean of our projected day one starters, only S Donovan Wilson is out.

DT Trysten Hill will also be available again as he had his suspension reduced to 1 game.

Anyone else been following Warshton and Fulla-delphia and have serious doubts we'll still win the East? I sure do.

Goldang this game is fun to watch. Two teams that run the damn ball and play great defense. Funny how great coaching means refs flags stay in their pockets. It's 11-7 Patriots at the half. This game is blood and guts all the way so far. We're seeing I-formation with real fullbacks, trap plays, fucking crossbuck blocks, counter-trays, you name it. It's a man's world in Buffalo tonight.

Wanna see real football, tune in to ESPN.

I hate the Steelers but I miss those old Raven/Steeler games where they always seemed to come down to a crazy defensive stop with both teams usually having trouble getting more than 10 points

There was nothing great about the Buffalo defense last night, not sure what you were watching but they lost a game in which the other team only threw 3 passes because they couldn't do jack shit to stop the run, even though they knew it was coming every play.

And New England did that because of the weather (cold, snow and extreme wind). It was a hprrendous defensive game plan by the Bills and they never adjusted.

Ya can't stop excellent execution. That's the hallmark and in fact the whole point of a real running game - they can't stop it even though they know what's coming. And not sure what "adjustment" you would propose as they tried everything. Ten man boxes, run blitzes, stunts, the whole nine yards.

They've been doing this the last six weeks, although not to this obstinate degree. My point is you CAN see when a team is actually serious about running the ball and not just going through the motions of running the ball.

Had we run the ball 45 times with our OL we'd have probably been lucky to tab 125 yards.
All depends on your personnel groupings and what blocking schemes you're using. We're not built to obstinately run the ball. No fullback on the roster, and our o-linemen are more pass blocking oriented than they are mashers. We don't have any running plays like the ones NE uses. Our shit is just "beat the man in front of you" shit.

NE has a total no-name o-line with total no-name RBs, two no-name FBs, and they line up and hit you in the mouth repeatedly. All day if necessary.

Dallas, by contrast, has to devote almost exclusively 1st round picks to pull anything close to resembling this. The ownership is so fucking debilitating to the team ever winning another super bowl.

I'll continue to go on record as saying they will never win another super bowl while jeri is alive and likely thereafter as his spawn will prove to be no better except in their stubbornness to be front & center at the expense of quality football

this is why my fandom is all but dead

Taco: gone
Jaylon: gone
LVE: about to be gone
Conner Williams: about to be gone
Trysten Hill: hustles but not a high impact guy

All of the above are first and second rounders. And we wonder why we can't close in on the elite teams.

and at least 3 out of those 5 are Jeri's gambles (imo) that never live up to the cost in both draft capital, time, roster spot, endless nursing (Randy Gregory)

I'm fine with gambling on the Gregory, Jaylon types in the later rounds but jeri loves to do it with first and 2nd round picks and the juice has never proven worth the squeeze

but given how woefully incapable jeri & spawn are of competing with their peers, gambling is really their only option

The drafts between 2017 and 19 were horrendous for the most part. Too bad TJ Watt wasnt a "scheme fit".

I said the same thing about the gruesome threesome of Jerry, Carrott and Romo. I will predict the same about the reign of Jethro, Corky and Dak.

For the most part the team has drafted pretty well now for a decade or so and it vastly improved over where it was starting in 2003 when Parcells was hired.

The bigger issue than drafting has been the coaching. Parcells was a shell of his former self as a HC, Wade and Garrett were absolutely putrid. Jury is still out on McCarthy, although he does still get some benefit of a doubt with me because 1) he actually did win a super bowl and 2) this team has been a MASH unit of injuries since he took over

The OL scheme is supposedly a zone blocking system so it isnt just "beat the man in front of you". In fact IMO they'd be better off going back to more of a man to man blocking scheme now because there's far too many plays where we watch the replay and 2 or 3 of our guys are actually just standing there literally blocking nobody.

I do think there's something to the scheme element you mention and have for some time. I totally get why they want 3 WR's on the field and when Cooper/Gallup/Lamb are all healthy they should be on the field. They don't use much motion it appears anymore and when they do, many of the "motion" plays they have a WR motion into a TE type position and try to block. I'd venture to guess that over the past half dozen years or so when they have done that the play is a run 90+% of the time, and more often than not now the play gains very little to nothing because other teams know its coming. As you mention there is no true FB and there really arnt any good blocking TE's on the roster either. I also think they run too many times from a shotgun formation.

That said, this OL should be performing better than this and it isnt just run blocking they struggle with anymore, it's also the pass protection. Last year Philbin deserved a pass because of the utter disaster situation with all the OL injuries, but this year he doesn't have that excuse.
