Well, I finally know someone who has covid.

My 80 year old father came down with it Sunday. I gently urged him to get the vaccine multiple times and he never did, not because he was anti vax, he just fears going to the doctor, needles, etc. He had rheumatic fever as a kid and I think was really scarred by the treatment which took a long time and he barely survived

He's in great shape and sharp as attack, skinny, etc. Still plays golf and the doctor said his vitals, like blood pressure, etc, are great so hopefully he can recover asap.

He got a G pack (dont know what that is other than its a variety of oral drugs and I might have the letter wrong given my shitty short term memory) plus they came to his house and injected something intravenously yesterday that took about an hour. A friend of his who got covid and did the intravenous thing said he felt fantastic within 24 hours unfortunately thats not the case for my dad thus far. He can breath fine but is weak, has zero appetite, feels nauseous (he thinks from the drugs). He said he had a fever but it broke Monday so hopefully thats a good thing.

I just hope he doesnt pay the ultimate price for not getting the vaccine, which at the very least, appears to reduce symptoms dramatically if not fully for a least a period of time.

Best wishes to your Dad. I hope he recovers quickly.

I have not heard of "G-Pack" outside of the illicit drug trade. Was it a Z-Pack? Z-Pack is Zithromax regimen. It is an anti-bacterial given to treat pneumonia, which is often an effect of COVID-19. Anytime fluid gets into the lungs pneumonia can develop. Zithromax would help to prevent that, especially in older people.

By the way, a recent study of DOD data comprised of 20 million medicare recipients found that from Jan 2021 to late August 2021 of medicare recipients over 65 hospitalized for COVID, 71% were fully vaccinated. The Data also showed about 1/3 of hospitalized were intensive care patients. The study indicates that vaccines lose effectiveness after about 5 or 6 months and no longer provide protection from the virus or a reduction in symptoms. The vaccines buy time but eventually the vaccinated are no better off than the unvaccinated.

On the other hand, natural immunity seems to be far longer lasting and much stronger. The number of breakthrough cases for those who have had COVID and recovered is still very tiny compared to the vaccinated breakthrough cases.

thank you sir

It definitely wasn't a Z-pack but I'm not 100% sure he said "G" either but I'll try to find out

Hoping he recovers and ends up with better immunity overall.

Has anyone done studies on the pros/cons of getting the vaccine after having covid? Now he's board with getting it but was told to wait 60 days after he's fully recovered

I am not a doctor but the only studies I have seen about recovered COVID patients have been an indication that natural immunity is longer lasting and stronger than the vaccines. Unfortunately, I think information about natural immunity is being suppressed because they consider it misinformation which impeded vaccinations.

I know people who have been vaccinated after having had COVID. They all got vaccinated to keep their jobs. They are all okay. But it is a good question. I would be concerned that the vaccine may destroy natural immunity over time.

What we really need is an unbiased media and an objective scientific community that will study all aspects of COVID immunity and then publish facts they find rather than facts they want to find.

I found this article but it makes no sense to me.

https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/w...tion-gives-maximum-protection-uk-study-321816

The reason it makes no sense is because of this:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33718968/

Reinfection after recovery seems to be extremely rare. But it is difficult to determine because the tests are unreliable. In any case, the determination that vaccination after recovery provides 94% protection seems meaningless when reinfection after recovery is much less than 6% of cases. I have seen articles claiming that reinfection after recovery is actually less than 1%. But again, there seems to be a dearth of reliable information about natural immunity.

Furthermore, what happens to recovered patients who get vaccinated in 6 months? Do they lose some of their immunity like vaccinated people who have never had COVID?

The thing is, COVID began in January of 2020 in the US. That was more than 18 months ago. Why are we not seeing large numbers of re-infected COVID patients? The implication is natural immunity lasts at least 18 months and probably longer. The vaccines appear to be effective for only about 6 months.

Sorry to hear that. It is likely a good thing your father did not get vaccinated. He will be better off in the long run with natural immunity and he does not have to worry about the as to yet unknown long term issues from the new technology vaccines.

It's amusing and interesting to watch play out, but ya know? For decades pretty much since the JFK assassination and the ones which quickly followed, then through Vietnam, Watergate.... 911... The fucking moon landings... The press and the media taught a whole generation not to trust the government. Even promoted and fostered this distrust. Openly promoting conspiracy theories no matter how silly and infantile they were... Now that a generation of Marxist-inspired statists are in control of the press, the media, the networks, social media, the internet in general and Hollywood, they're perplexed why there's a whole generation of people who do not trust the government, do not trust vaccines, and who are generally skeptical about most everything.

But they are satiated that there's a new generation of idiots who will just fall in line and not question. That's where my amusement ends.

Anyhow, just thoughts.

Texas Supreme Court puts San Antonio school district’s vaccine mandate on hold.

As Texas GOP wages war on COVID-19 mandates, lawmakers OK bill that would make companies requiring the shot vulnerable to lawsuits

Senate Bill 51 would make any entity, including hospitals, vulnerable to discrimination lawsuits if they mandate vaccinations for all employees. :)

"Take this jab and shove it!"

Mike Judge created a hilarious series that has gone largely unnoticed in my opinion.

Its called Tales from the Tour Bus and season 1, episode 1 is about Johnny Paycheck who was a nut! Here's a clip:

I highly recommend the entire series, here's Johnnys episode on Daily Motion:
