I agree with much of both of the above. I think the legal process has become like everything else in government, overly tedious, no sense of urgency and extremely time consuming which makes it very difficult to try come in legally. I'm in construction and have tried to help guys get legal status that are even married to american women. 7+ years into the process including spending money on immigration attorneys and there's no light at he end of the tunnel
I agree on speaking English plus I want immigrants like the ones I've met that escaped horrific places like Cuba, USSR bloc countries from the 80's, N Koreans, et al who when they got here, they kissed the ground we walk on and LOVE and totally appreciate the constitutional rights and freedoms we have. They know first hand why they're so valuable. This mindset built our country.
Sadly it seems more Americans born here seem to hate the country, constantly licking their perceived wounds while grandstanding their virtue for bearing the cross they invented. I think it would be great for kids to spend 6 months abroad as part of high school eduction so eyes are opened to how amazing this country is. I traveled around the world for 4 months after I got out of college (1988) and spent half that time in soviet bloc countries like Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, etc....You could feel the oppression in the air, everything was gloomy and grey and hearts were heavy, without hope. I dont see how anyone could experience places like this (go to Cuba or N Korea now for a similar experience) and come away with the conclusion socialism/communism is the way to go.
