I did some digging on this a month or two ago and posted it somewhere. There's a lot more to it than simply adding a bunch of libtards from "one new state"

This is where Trump loses me. This is unserious and unbecoming of an American president.

But I don't think Trump's tweet that Canada is considering his offer necessarily meant they were considering statehood. Canada rejected that notion quickly and unequivocally. Trump said they price tag would be $61 billion. I think he meant they were considering that.

In any case, Canada has 40 million people which makes them slightly larger than California. If we add another CA to the states with another 55 or more electoral votes no Republican would win the presidency ever again, including Trump.

The majority of Canadians do not like Trump. He needs to stop talking about statehood when it will clearly never happen.

This case is going to be decided by the Supreme Court. It is not crystal clear if the president has the power to impose tariffs or not but congress did pass laws that appear to give the president the power to levy tariffs in certain cases where national security is concerned. So the question is, has Trump met the conditions for imposing taxes. I think if Trump just imposed tariffs on China he might have a good argument about national security concerns. But imposing broad tariffs across the board makes that argument difficult to make. For example, is it really a national security issue that Columbia imposes tariffs on US coffee imports, a product we do not export?
