He disappeared when Erik Williams wanted him to.Reggie White never disappeared whenever the opponent really wanted him to. And was outstanding against the run.

This is true.He disappeared when Erik Williams wanted him to.

Comparing Parsons with a hall of famer simply on sack numbers in this generation of pass happy offenses is the foolish crap. Imagine what White would have, destroying pass happy offenses today. Now try putting Parsons on D in Reggie's era. It's a man and a boy. Parsons probably doesn't even become a starter.Reggie had his issues as well, especially with Big E. But all that aside, Parsons is the only guy to match his sack stats for his first 4 years. That's a lot of edge rushers between then and now. Parsons is one of those players team have to game plan for and account for on game day. If it makes you guys feel better about the trade, have at it. But don't post foolish crap either.
We're in uncharted waters. But as pointed out earlier, our D has been pretty piss poor.I'm definitely now more optimistic about our run defense. But conversely I'm now really worried about our pass defense. I'm not sure we can get consistent pressure on the QB now without some blitz schemes. And I'm concerned about our secondary. I doubt Revel sees the field much, if at all, this season. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Diggs manages more than half-a-dozen games too. Elam was good in training camp, but there is a big difference between doing it in camp and doing it in real games. Huge question marks there imho.
True. But what annoys me about the Parsons trade is not that Jerry pulled the trigger on it (only time will tell if it was the right thing to do), but that he didn't get it sorted one way or the other long before now. Same with CeeDee and Dak. Jerry takes way too long getting his ducks in a row with these big contract negotiations, to the detriment of the team's salary cap situation. If it's true that Micah went back on a handshake 6 months ago then Jerry should have made him available for trade immediately. We're in uncharted waters. Well. Some of us were calling for a trade pre draft where presumably we get a much better haul.but that he didn't get it sorted one way or the other long before now
Jerry's saying the handshake was in April. If it's true that Micah went back on a handshake 6 months ago then Jerry should have made him available for trade immediately
There are a lot of petty people on this forum. Well, not a lot. There's only five members. Some of them used to complain that Micah never got holding calls. That too has been memory holed. You guys are a trip......MIcah's such a regular guy that his only statistical comparison is Reggie White. Eagles fans are absolutely elated.
Jerry clearly didn't want to trade Parsons and that's why his turd agent advised Parsons to turn into a giant walking turd himself. If it's true that Micah went back on a handshake 6 months ago then Jerry should have made him available for trade immediately.
Jourdan Lewis was a really solid player for us and a good guy for the locker room, but Jacksonville paid a lot to get him. 3yrs/30mils with 20 mils guaranteed is a lot for a guy who is purely a nickel CB and doesn't get many interceptions (10 for his career)Going back to the secondary, I think we'll miss Jourdan Lewis more than we yet realize, and he could have easily been re-signed if Jerry would just pull his thumb out of his ass and not let things drift until the season is almost upon us (although I'm sure he loves all the extra publicity it brings).
Rock solid 100% lock. There are a lot of petty people on this forum. Well, not a lot. There's only five members. Some of them used to complain that Micah never got holding calls. That too has been memory holed.![]()

Context. Perspective.
I'm not arguing at all.You can't move the goal posts. The truth is that Parsons is the only guy in that discussion from Reggie's playing days until today. That doesn't make him better than Reggie. But it does make the guy a top level guy. I thought the guy was a generational talent. Did last season and the GB playoff before that sour that opinion? Sure....but just a bit. Because I know where the issues lie on this team and that's with the guy under center.
So you and Happy David just go on and make yourselves feel better. I don't like the fact that we lost Parsons. I understand why it happened and, unfortunately, it had to happen because the guy looked like he was becoming a cancer. But that doesn't mean I don't see what the guy brought to the table. Real HC's and DC's would know what to do with the guy but he wasted under Zimmer. He'd be a demon in a BB scheme.
And I don't even know what we're arguing here. I'd be willing to bet that most teams would take a guy like Parsons and would give up a #1 plus. We got two #1 picks plus a decent player from a playoff caliber team. That in and of itself tells you how NFL people view Parsons.
Annnnd I'll throw you this little bone. I seriously doubt anyone we pick with the four first round picks we now have for the next two drafts, will be better than Parsons. Also:I'd be willing to bet that most teams would take a guy like Parsons and would give up a #1 plus. We got two #1 picks plus a decent player from a playoff caliber team. This. Parsons stays and gets hugely overpaid sans the home preseason antics.Jerry clearly didn't want to trade Parsons and that's why his turd agent advised Parsons to turn into a giant walking turd himself.
If Parsons had not pulled the shit he did at the Falcons game he would not be in Green Bay today. I firmly believe that.
They traded him because coaches and players said enough was enough and even Jerry couldn't come to grips with having him around anymore.
Yep, agree and good comparison.Unlike Watt or Garrett, Parsons is not a complete player. He's a demon pass rusher but has little interest in the run. But if Chris Doleman can get to the HOF just by being one dimensional, so can Micah.
I don't think he'd have gotten paid here at that point either. I just think Jones was so intent on not trading him that they'd have tried to ride it out and hope that he eventually came in.This. Parsons stays and gets hugely overpaid sans the home preseason antics.
