Some thoughts:

The salary cap impact is irrelevant. Jerry had $31 million in CAP space before he traded Micah and didn't use it. He has to change his philosophy about signing free agents for the CAP space to matter. Signing his own players makes the Cowboys the same, not better.

I think Jerry could have signed Micah for a lot less last March and probably less than that had he extended Micah after his 3rd season. Jerry got burned by his own stupidity extending players early, like Zeke, Steele, and Diggs so those experiences kept him from extending Micah early. It seems everything Jerry does turns out wrong.

The 2 first round picks will be in the 20s most likely. The Packers had the 6th best defense last year. With Parsons they should be better than that. The Cowboys drafting late in the first got they Guyton and Mazi - oh, and Taco. They need to do better for this trade to work out for them. The Cowboys best bet to acquire a new franchise QB in the draft will be from their own draft picks which will most likely be sooner than GBs. But It will take both draft picks and then some, possibly a 3rd 1st round pick, to move up to the top 2 picks.

Jerry talked about using these two picks to acquire other players, or more picks. Jerry making more trades should scare everyone.

If the Cowboys pass rush is garbage this year I cannot imagine what fans will be saying.

Kenny Clark already has 9 years in the NFL. 2025 will be his 10th. I think the Cowboys keep him for maybe 2 years.

This trade has nothing to do with rebuilding. The Cowboys still have a 32 year old QB on a $60 million per year contract who really can't be moved until 2027. Daks CAP impact for each of the next 4 years is $50.5MM, $74MM, $68.4MM and $78.4 MM. That actually averages out to over $67 million per year.

IMO, it never should have gotten to this point. Jerry let it happen. I know Micah did some dumb things but he was playing Jerry's game of chicken and in the end both sides lost.

By the way, when this all started, didn't Micah say that he didn't need to be paid top dollar? That quickly seemed to change.

Fuck Clark. I want two #1's, a 2 and a 3. That's the only trade that would've satisfied me.
Jerry wouldn't do that because he thinks the SB is in sight every year. He wanted a player to help the team this year. Otherwise, it would have been what I call a "tank trade". He even said that he only talked to teams that had DTs he wanted.

Plus, the Green Bay GM isn't stupid. He'd say. "Wait, you think I am going to pay Micah 47 million a year and give you all that"...hang up.

Clark and Osi should make for a very good starting DT (UCLA products).

The DT position has been worrying me all along because if we can't stop the run then it will become a very long day against teams like the Niners and Eagles.

Stopping the run is crucial... Pickle Juice Game.

Looking through Clark's career stats and game logs, I notice he has been quite good in the postseason in addition to pretty solid during his career during the regular season. Not really any "no shows" I see there for playoff games.

Am I warning you to stop talking up Clark and searching for silver linings? Yes.

I would LOVE to know what some of the other teams were willing to offer.

Agreed. This would make me feel better (or worse) about the trade. The reality is we may never know. I think we were shortchanged and Jerry got the short end of the stick once again. But I also know we weren't going to go any further with Parsons. The most important person on the field is under center. This team will go as far as he takes us, which will be nowhere.

This would have made me feel better as well. We may never see another generational talent like Micah fall in the draft to us....I mean, the kid slipped to #12.

But for all the jaw clenching, just wait until Jerry burns the newly acquired draft capital to move up for some guy that would have fallen to us anyway. You just know it........Jerry's a bum and he just wants to feel like Jimmy and be a wheeler and dealer once last time before he meets his maker. There's more pain in our future. Book it.....

I've always wondered what the process is. Do they have a suite in the Star for players like this to stay at until they get situated or do they have accounts set up at a nearby apartment complex for the players to stay at?

I imagine they have personal real estate agents who go out with the wife and the wife picks out a home, but it takes time. These people are so friggin rich that they can just throw out the current furniture or give it to Goodwill or something.

Or maybe he will rent his Green Bay place to Micah?

Is Stephen A. Smith trying to tell us or have us believe that Jerry didn't talk to Dak's agent, to Troy's agent, to Irvin's agent, to Lamb's agent?

These players are coached up by agents on what to say in public. "I'm only asking for what is fair". Well, you started out by telling the world you were not looking for top dollar and you turned down a huge amount of guaranteed money.

We could very well bomb on all 4 number 1 picks, but I like the odds. Kahlil Mack didn't really work out for the Bears. Parsons could get hurt tomorrow. There is risk no matter what.

Yes, in an ideal world you'd like a top 5 pick. But the NFL is unpredictable. We've seen many times when teams predicted to go the SB flop. Last year the Niners were thought to be a SB contending team and they were plagued with injuries. Are the Packers immune to that sort of scenario?

We weren't going to trade Micah to the Saints. Why would the Saints do that? The Saints would ideally like to be in a position to take a QB. What are they going to do with Micah?

Offhand, can anyone think of a team that you think might be a bottom 5 team that could use a pass rusher more than a QB?
