First, I read all of his comments and it seems the offending comment is he lied about the Kirk shooter being MAGA. Ok, it's a lie. He was clearly not MAGA. But how is this any different than all the other people in media basically saying the same thing
Using an OLD quote completely out of context is a simple political hit job. Not the role or purpose of late night comedy.
At the same time I am skeptical about why Kimmel was taken off the air. I am inclined to believe his employer was looking for a good reason to pull him off the air without offending the left wing fans of his show. Now they've done it while shifting the blame to the Trump admin. I believe Kimmel was fired because his show sucks, not because of his comments
Entire late night network programming is failing with its targeted audience today. That means, no audience.

Yes, this is true, but do we get people fired for bad comedy now? Look I dislike Kimmel, but that is not a reason for an FCC official to threaten the broadcaster of his show. If you don't like what Kimmel has to say, turn him off. Block him on social media. I said the same thing when Twitter was censoring people on the right. Free speech is free speech. If his employer chose to fire him, that's fine. It is their decision, but when a government official gets involved, I draw a line there. This is exactly the problem we had with the Biden admin threatening Twitter and other social media platforms to take down conservative speech.

I understand why many people on the right feel good about Kimmel getting fired. And generally, I believe companies should separate themselves from employees who behave in ways that do not represent the company in a positive manner. However, there is a twist to this Kimmel firing that concerns me.

First, I read all of his comments and it seems the offending comment is he lied about the Kirk shooter being MAGA. Ok, it's a lie. He was clearly not MAGA. But how is this any different than all the other people in media basically saying the same thing? And how is this so different than when a shooting occurs, people on the right proclaim it was a Muslim of a transgender before the facts are known? Or even after the facts are known when people claim some kind of false flag op or conspiracy to hide the real perpetrator?

I read all of Kimmel's messages and in fact he posted one very nice note about ending all gun violence and sending his best wishes to the Kirk family. He didn't mock or condone the shooting like others. He condemned it.

And what are we to make of this report that an FCC official threatened Kimmel's broadcaster over Kimmel's remarks? This is the equivalent of Biden's admin going after Twitter forcing them to censor stories or cancel individual accounts, isn't it? I do not like how this one has gone down. Get ready for payback if we ever see another Democrat administration again.

Just because they did it to us does not mean we need to retaliate. That is a path to government control of everything in a tit-for-tat war of pay back.

At the same time I am skeptical about why Kimmel was taken off the air. I think ultimately they did fire him because his show sucks, the ratings suck and they were probably losing their ass.

This was just the excuse they could use to finally do it. But with him I do think it was an accumulation of ridiculous BS he put out there, not just this alone.

Alex Jones was sued for billions of dollars for a lie. Kimmel is lucky he just got fired.

The networks in general are reading the writing on the wall. Trump has won numerous lawsuits already. Kirk's wife has filed lawsuits that she will almost assuredly win.

I have similar concerns as well.

Things seem to be turning into a tit for tat scenario going the way of whomever is in power and I think it needs to be nipped in the bud

I want Kimmel/Colbert, The View and MSNBC/CNN extremists canceled because no one watches them or so few watch, network heads can no longer justify keeping them on he air, not simply because the tide of outrage over words currently aligns with those in power

The problem as I see it is there are millions of people we may never know who watch these shows and hold the same outrageous opinions. Just because they get forced into silence (like I saw happen under the Biden administration) doesnt mean they're gone as I expect they'll remain long after any show cancellations and look for ways to have their voices heard (perhaps by any means necessary). Thus why I want changed hearts and minds so there is no need to cancel anyone because people from all sides put down their proverbial swords, realize we're all on the same team, our differences aren't that great ultimately leaving only a tiny minority whimpering futilely until perhaps, even they, see the light

wishful thinking I know but if you don't shoot for the stars, you wont even hit the moon

I like Fallon, I dont really think he wants to be political (but has succumbed at times to do so). I remember when people where giving him shit for goofing on Trump and messing up his hair so the outrage mob pressured him into compliance.

I never watch the show but I do see clips occasionally online and like a many of his bits, find him to be fun, charming and nothing like Colbert/Kimmel, how can anyone not get a kick out of this:

Plus he was great in Band of Brothers!

DUCK!

Fallon is safe because he MAKES MONEY his show has moderate ratings the advertisers are okay but his web revenue is off the charts he is reaching his audience where it is.

And he's not repelling the TV viewer. He's gonna be okay because he has an intelligent business model. He's not just a straight up political hit mouthpiece and regurgitator.

His show was terrible and so were his ratings...if it were booming, he wouldn't be off the air.

This isnt "tit for tat"

The other issue he didn't even issue an "opinion", he blatantly lied on the air, which creates a legal situation for the network. They knew they were going to get crushed in court and lose millions (if not billion/s) more than they already were.
