I understand why many people on the right feel good about Kimmel getting fired. And generally, I believe companies should separate themselves from employees who behave in ways that do not represent the company in a positive manner. However, there is a twist to this Kimmel firing that concerns me.
First, I read all of his comments and it seems the offending comment is he lied about the Kirk shooter being MAGA. Ok, it's a lie. He was clearly not MAGA. But how is this any different than all the other people in media basically saying the same thing? And how is this so different than when a shooting occurs, people on the right proclaim it was a Muslim of a transgender before the facts are known? Or even after the facts are known when people claim some kind of false flag op or conspiracy to hide the real perpetrator?
I read all of Kimmel's messages and in fact he posted one very nice note about ending all gun violence and sending his best wishes to the Kirk family. He didn't mock or condone the shooting like others. He condemned it.
And what are we to make of this report that an FCC official threatened Kimmel's broadcaster over Kimmel's remarks? This is the equivalent of Biden's admin going after Twitter forcing them to censor stories or cancel individual accounts, isn't it? I do not like how this one has gone down. Get ready for payback if we ever see another Democrat administration again.
Just because they did it to us does not mean we need to retaliate. That is a path to government control of everything in a tit-for-tat war of pay back.
At the same time I am skeptical about why Kimmel was taken off the air. I am inclined to believe his employer was looking for a good reason to pull him off the air without offending the left wing fans of his show. Now they've done it while shifting the blame to the Trump admin. I believe Kimmel was fired because his show sucks, not because of his comments.
