Both Yim and Dooms are right, but for differing reasons. I agree that these high prices are artificially created to push the country towards the religious of green energy. The market for gas alternatives was artificially created and we don't have the technology to make it sustainable. At the end of the day, it's just a way for people to get rich.

But I also don't see a future where we are so dependent on fuel. Prior to our energy independence, we were held hostage by OPEC. Now it's the Russians and the Chinese for other goods. I don't think we should be reliant on other countries for every day necessities such as food and fuel.

But we need to look and develop alternatives. Right now, solar is just not economically viable. An electric car is not economically viable either. But finding a way to heat a home or run your appliances with an inexpensive energy source is appealing.

Interestingly, a decent and relatively economical option isn't allowed in city limits - individual wind power. Not even horizontal turbines! Cities quickly adopted ordinances forbidding it, even small towns.

Universities, think tanks, private industry - all have been trying to crack this nut for at least 100 years and still are. Worldwide, not just us.

Again, nobody's argued against R&D.

Is there a detailed published timeline yet of the horrific events from yesterday, that begins before: "shooter is in the school" ??

Bty, how does a 17 year old, in the so-called impoverished area of Uvalde, who just turned 18, get $1800 to buy a gun??

Its a horrible tragedy, feel awful for all the parents and that community.

Do they know for sure he actually bought the gun? Asking because I honestly don't know, but it is a very interesting question.

I did see some info that claimed he was messaging some girl somewhere with pics prior to doing this, and apparently he had a very odd Instagram page.

The gunman who massacred 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Texas warned in online messages sent minutes before the attack that he had shot his grandmother and was going to shoot up a school, the governor said Wednesday.

Democrat Beto O’Rourke, who is running against Abbott for governor, interrupted Wednesday’s news conference, calling the tragedy “predictable.” Pointing his finger at Abbott, he said: “This is on you until you choose to do something different. This will continue to happen.” O’Rourke was escorted out as some in the room yelled at him, with Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin calling Beto a “sick son of a bitch.”

Yes, he bought two the same day legally. He worked at a Wendy's to save up the money to buy the guns. He even told some of his co-workers he was saving to buy the guns. His co-workers thought he was "off". One female said she stayed away from him because she felt unsafe around him.

Once he had enough money to buy the guns he quit his job at Wendy's and then committed the shooting soon after.

I am as pro-guns as anyone but we need a better way to screen out the crazies.

Now lefties are going to say we should not allow anyone to buy 2 guns at the same time but Ramos only took one gun with him into the school. He also bought 375 rounds of ammo so surely someone will say gun owners should not be allowed to buy that much ammo all at once. Anyone who goes to a range to practice shooting knows that 375 rounds does not last long at all. I shoot anywhere from 125 to 200 rounds an hour at the range depending on what I am practicing. Some folks with outdoor ranges will go through a lot more than that.

All these issues being brought up by lefties are a distraction. Even if the kid had a shotgun that holds 5 rounds he could do as much is not more damage in an elementary school. As long as there is no one to stop him while he reloads then the weapon does not matter much at all.

We need to focus on the shooter. What makes all these shooters kill kids? What is going on in their disturbed minds? How to we identify them sooner and get the out of society before they snap? These are the questions we should be asking.

In case you haven't noticed, when it comes to these mass murders, if the killer is white then white supremacy gets the blame. Otherwise the gun gets the blame. We are a violent culture and we are getting more violent.

There is a new report today that the shooter was actually arrested 4 years ago with another kid for plotting to shoot up their high school when they were seniors. If this is true then this is a big problem. The explanation is juvenile records are sealed so there was no way to connect this kids to his prior record. Again, I am not sure how true any of this is.

But it seems to me, if a kid shows violent tendencies growing up it might be a good idea to red flag him when he turns 18 even if it's only for a few years. When I was a kid, the state would delay kids who committed certain acts from getting driver's licenses until they were either 21 or 25 depending on the infraction. Maybe we do the same for juveniles who are violent. delay their ability to purchase fire arms until they are 25.

The motive for the massacre — the nation’s deadliest school shooting since Newtown, Connecticut, almost a decade ago — remained under investigation.

I say it was Satan inspired. The shooter had turned over his soul to Satan.
