Those other 3 have alot more cap dead weight if you try to term the player though, we have basically none with the two you mention.
Because you're taking the big ass hit right now with Spencer's tag money. Ahmad Brooks, if cut next offseason, would count for like 300K more than Spencers guaranteed tag.
What happens if Spencer plays well?
If Brooks does, 9ers still have him.
As far as cap burden goes down the line, the Titans could cut Wimbley next year and pay 1M more than what Dallas has to take off the cap for Newmans money.
If they get 3 years out of him, dunno why they wouldn't, they can cut him for a cap hit the following season for half the Newman hit.
Wimbley isnt that much better than Spencer, and as I've mentioned in this thread apparently the guy on our staff who coached him thinks Spencer is the better player by a considerable margin. Wells is already 31 and Grubbs graded out lower than JAG Holland this year. I'm not sure GB and Baltimore made any effort to resign either of them.
Wells is 31 which isn't even that old for a C. Very few Cs are all that young.
And maybe Rob doesn't have enough pull. Or hears a thought, maybe Wimbley is better now than he was under that one single year with Ryan. Who the fuck knows? Fact is, Wimbley has almost double the career sacks as Spencer with only one more year of play under his belt and he's never had the benefit of having a premier rusher opposite him.
Since Spencer came into the league, Ware has like 80 sacks.
In the same span, Wimbley's best teammates have combined for like 33 or somewhere around there.
And you can pull those rankings all you want because they also had Wells as one of the top C in the game and Livings came out in the 50s for the 3rd straight year.
Lastly, if GB or BAL didn't try to re-sign their guys is some reason why they aren't good, what does Dallas' unwillingness to re-sign Spencer say?
You might as well just flat out say it, "the team did this so it must have been the right thing to do".
