Not true at all. Just recognize that the core of this forum is jaded from twenty years of this mostly underachieving shit show. We don't eat the cheese.

If you want the rah-rah superfan nonsense, you know where to go.

I love the Cowboys but I hate the following about the Cowboys:

- Jerry. I don't care if he's "doing better now." I will forever hate this man for putting his ego ahead of the team and essentially holding this franchise hostage for 20 years. I will cherish the day he dies.

- Garrett. Pissed away prime years of All Pro players, including the hardest position in the NFL (QB) so he could get OJT. Incredulous game mismanagement leading to a number of utterly baffling losses against a number of teams. I don't buy that he's getting better just beause he was stripped of power. I'll also not ever forget his throwing his QB under the bus a number of times after losses. To me, he looks the part, sounds the part, but ultimately is just a clapping, motivational speaking politician who is getting propped up by incredible OC/DC and a hall of fame QB. He himself offers nothing.

And really that's about it. Those two things.

Outside of that, I dislike most of our hashtagCowboyNation cowboys rule!!!!!! fanbase who rubber stamp everything the team does.

Oh and generally speaking, I tend to take a glass half full approach to the team. I tend to distrust certain players. I don't think Randle will end up a stud RB. I don't trust that Hardy will stay out of trouble. I don't trust that McClain can be relied upon. Etc. Not saying I don't get why we take risks on some guys (although I'm all for shitcanning McClain now). Just saying I tend to be overly skeptical of these guys.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best if you will.

No.

Instead of asking dumbass questions, try using the search feature and find out yourself.

Pretty sure you did, you're negative about virtually everything except being homo, so don't see why this would be an exception.

Midswat is 100% on the money. Some of the best fans and posters from other boards are here and I bet they've been fans for a long time (like me). We've seen success and we've seen what it took to be successful. In each dynasty, we had a formula that led to SB's and it's a simple one. We had a quality HC, a quality GM and a franchise QB. We currently have one out of three.

Yea right. If you show any optimism about the team they gang up on your ass.

It's not the optimism but the reason for that optimism. You can't compare Garrett to Landry, Jimmy Johnson or HOF coaches and not get slammed. That has nothing to do with optimism but sheer stupidity. Expect to get hammered when you say something stupid like that.

And speaking only for myself, I'm with Middy that I'm waiting for the day Jerry meets his maker. But I actually gave the man props for last season, more so than Garrett because I thought Jerry made some good personnel moves as the GM. But his lack of adequately replacing Murray, the trade up for Swaim in the 7th fucking round and using a 3rd round pick for a swing tackle that won't play this year is fucking stupid. It's almost like we just decided to take the rest of the draft off after Gregory fell to us.

I have this memory burned in my head of Jerry that I will never shake...

It was after a loss to Atlanta in 2012, dropping us to 3-5 at the halfway point. Jason had a dumbass PC aired on NFL Network where he gave a usual generic "I thought we played good but they played better. They're a good football team and we didn't do enough in all three phases of the game to win the football game." Blah blah blah

Jerry was cornered by some media members and was getting his feet held to the fire by Tim McMahon about hiring a GM. Jerry kept giving his dismissive answers and Tim kept pressing. Jerry didn't give a shit. Just kept that fucking grin on his face and answered each question with a condescending wink/smile.

I was crushed after that loss because it was a roller coaster of a game and we made one hell of a comeback to take the lead late, but blew it. Hearing Garrett's assinine cliches and Jerry's smug fucking face pissed me off to no end.

Yeah ... There's nothing that will change my convictions of how Jerry and Jason screwed up in the past.

But I do think the present is much better.

It seems that Jerry has either stepped away from much of the decision making or he's paying closer attention to better advice.

Garrett did a poor job when he was both Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. It was too much for him. But that doesn't mean that he can't develop into a decent head coach. We'll find out over the next few years.

I don't have faith in the current RBs and believe that the solid running game was essential to last year's success. We've already seen what happens when Romo is asked to shoulder too much of the load. I'm concerned that the offense is in danger of returning to its old ways.

At least you can tell them to fuck off here

plus the Debbie Downer crew are so overwhelmingly negative about everything that its hard to take much of what is said seriously but its almost always good for a laugh (posts #24 thru 27 ITT are gold!)

step back and enjoy the banter, you don't need anyones seal of approval for your views anyway

Was that when McMahon asked jerri if he was embarrassed about the quality (or lack thereof) of the team? and jerri the dipshit responded with something like:

"Would you be embarrassed standing in this incredible stadium?"

and McMahon went silent and I was screaming at the TV for McMahon to say:

"Hell yes, I'd be embarrassed, the name of the game is football not stadium!!"

My hate for jj is being calmed by recent success but it doesn't take much for me to blow my top at that guy.

Nonsense. It might though happen when one claims to be objective then in the same paragraph declares he has only positive feelings.

You keep repeating this same lie, hoping somehow it will stick - to what I've no idea.

That's right. If the faith in the religion is strong, persecution shouldn't matter. And mindless Homerism such as Everlast displays is, a religion. He has faith. Like every Cleveland Browns fan does in his team too.

There's been none since the final gun popped on Super Bowl 30. Yes, that's right - Roger Staubach defined "a successful season" immediately after Dallas won its first Super Bowl. A successful season in Dallas ends with the team hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Any other outcome is not successful and not acceptable. That's the standard many have completely forgotten. This is the Dallas Cowboys.

12-4 with a playoff win isn't "successful" it's a fucking also ran.

I'm not too pessimistic about the Cowboys, nor would I quash anybody's optimism.
I'm just cautious about what I buy into.
Despite last year's success, the evidence suggests the powers that be couldn't find a pig in a bathtub.
