Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle is on the verge of being suspended 1-2 games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, reports NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. The impending suspension will serve as punishment for an offseason incident involving police.
In February Randle was arrested in Wichita, Kan., for unlawful possession of marijuana. According to the police report, authorities received a call from the mother of Randle's son, who said that Randle broke a car window during an argument and threatened her and her son with a gun.
It's the presence of a gun is which will lead to the suspension, according to Rapoport.
In April, the charges against Randle were dropped, but the NFL met with Randle over the summer to determine if he had violated the league's personal conduct policy. It conducted its own investigation, and over the last week the league decided that Randle indeed had, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Todd Archer.
That was the second time in four months that Randle had been arrested, which no doubt contributed to league's decision to hand down punishment. Last October, he was arrested for shoplifting underwear and cologne.
Randle, 23, was taken by the Cowboys out of Oklahoma State in the fifth round of the 2013 draft. He was named the team's starter this season, and has ran for 313 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
In recent weeks, however, Randle has been dealing with an oblique injury. Earlier this week Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that Darren McFadden would be starting the Dallas' Week 8 matchup against the Seahawks.
