It's not being dramatic, this team hasn't sniffed a Super Bowl in 20 years.
As far as big spending, just building through the draft is like just counting on Social Security for retirement.
You can't really sit out the draft and every team participates in it. While you are building through the draft with your 7 picks a year, so is everyone else.
I wish Jerry Jones would stop being the GM right now. I wish Jason Garrett would take a Graduate Assistant job for Duke basketball. The only thing that will help this team compete soon is a healthy Romo AND an infusion of talent on defense.
See thats where you've got me wrong. I never said don't add anyone in free agency. I've only said that I don't agree with throwing BIG money around to FAs. Like I said earlier, if the right guy happen to be there at the right price I'd be all for it.
My problem with FAs is pretty much the same problem Stephen Jones said the other day. Good players getting paid like great players, and average players getting paid like good players.
I'm just not comfortable with overspending on a bunch of average to good players.
If I was a GM in free agency I'd look for bargain deals, guys who can fill out my roster, and the right vets that could help some younger guys with their experience and leadership on 1 or 2 year deals even if the price is a little high. Then occasionally spend BIG on one or maybe two if I felt like I really needed that player or they were too good to pass up.
