If the defense shows up and makes Brock Purdy look like the last pick in the draft,
and if they use Pollard heavy,
and if they can minimize CMC and Deebo's impact,
and if they can keep Aiyuk and/or Kittle from having big games in the process,
and if our o-line keeps San Francicso's defense in line,
and if our coaches can keep out of the team's way,
AND if Dak pays closer to Monday than the Washington game,
then, yeah, we've got a shot...

Once upon a time, when teams had the kind of season the Niners had this year you could almost guarantee they would not have postseason success. Yes it's true you can only beat who's on your schedule, but when football was "good" these teams that got fat on bad teams rarely won, or even sniffed a championship.

Their only wins vs teams with a winning record are Seattle (they were 9-8 and SF beat them 3 times if you count the postseason). Their other wins were by 6 pts over San Diego and dominant 16 pt win vs Miami. The best team they played was Kansas City and they lost that game by 3 tds.

Times have changed though.

Too many if's I suspect.

The #1 thing we have to do is take care of the football. If they play a turnover free game we can probably keep it close. If they lose the runover margin by 2 or more it's probably going to be ugly.

Like I said in the other thread, will be interesting to see if both kickers are active Sunday.

If Maher looks good in practice this week then the answer is probably no, but if he is having any issues they both might be active.

Cowherd is often labeled as a Cowboy hater too, but the above shows what he thinks of McCarthy.

He likes him.
