I think most people expected a hung jury. I thought it would we 3 or 4 women holding out for a Not Guilty verdict. Instead we got 1 brave man who held out for a conviction.
We now understand that basically the jury foreperson, a woman, was a moron apparently. Her note to the judge regarding the lone holdout juror not only divulged the breakout of the vote, but also which direction the majority was leaning. This was an absolute no-no. Then the judge divulged that information to the court, another no-no that should have led to an immediate mistrial. And of course the defense immediately used that information for try to get the lone holdout kicked off the jury. Fortunately the judge and the Mass Supreme court rejected that plea.
The prosecution made some big mistakes in this trial. They never should have questioned the grieving grand parents they way they did. It was unnecessary. They should have focused more on Lindsay's state of mind during the 18 minutes she killed her kids. They should have had better witnesses to testify about post-partum psychosis. I have already seen a number of doctors who are actual exerts in post-partum mental disorders on Twitter/X explain why Lindsay was not suffering from post-partum psychosis, starting with the fact that its onset is 2-4 weeks after birth of a child and 8 months would be extraordinarily rare.
They could also testify that psychotics hearing voice almost never obey the voices right away. The usually happens after a period of time when the individual becomes familiar with the voice. Lindsay hearing a voice for the first time and obeying its command is exceptional.
I don't know if the prosecution with retry the case or not. But the judge absolutely has to sanction Reddington for his abuse of the lone holdout juror. But he is a weak judge who let Reddington walk all over him the entire trial so I expect nothing will happen.
