Soft physically and mentally, and the entire leagues know it.

Harbaugh (Giants) said the exact same thing in the days leading up to the season opener. They Dallas was soft as charmin.
It's hard to believe that Brian is so different in style than Marty, but maybe my recollection of Marty is totally off the mark.

And as the Bucs proved yesterday (weather conditions helped), you can still win games by running the ball. If your defense sucks, keep them off the field. You're also keeping the opposing offense off the field. Then when the opposing offense does get back on the field, at least the D is rested and you hope for the best.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we trade Amari Cooper to the Browns for something like a 6th because the Browns agreed to pick up part of his salary and it created cap space?

People are claiming we can't trade Dak because of the cap hit. I think we can, but we need to accept that we might get maybe a 4th or 5th at best and the other team in exchange picks up X percent of the salary.

Aaron Rodgers is adamant that this is his last year. Steelers are 6-2 and might be playing themselves out of a first-round QB. Unless they love how Allar and Howard are progressing (I did read Allar is coming along, but who knows what that means) then McCarthy might be very interested in Dak as his QB next year.

So who becomes the Cowboys QB in that scenario? IDK, we gave our top 10 pick to the Jets. If we lose Pickens then a top free agent QB might not want to come to Dallas, not much other than Lamb. But a guy like Mac Jones could be a stop gap.

Then you hope a QB falls to you with the Green Bay pick.

Heck, maybe just go with Howell. He was a rookie thrown into the fire when Bland picked him off for the record. He's got to be better than he was by now.

If I were a HC like Mike Tomlin or Sean McDermott I'd rather stay retired than coach in Dallas. It a multiyear rebuild, but Jerry doesn't get it. I was saying to TANK last year.

What are the Colts doing right now? But everyone says "teams don't tank" BS! Teams don't, GMs do.

It's why I hope the Cowboys continue to suffer the most humilatign losses ever seen in the NFL! I'll be SMILING!

It is the ONLY way Jerry and Stephen will agree to CONTRACTUALLY step aside and hire Troy Aikman to oversee ALL football related operations. Then Troy can hire a GM and together they can hire a coach.

But it needs to burn to ashes first or Jerry and Stephen will never leave.

I think if Troy were to get hired into such a role then he needs to be honest and level with the fans and tell us that it is at least a 3 year rebuild and to be prepared for things to get worse before they get better. I think fans would buy it and respect it.

We would just like to see some evidence of a plan at work, rather than reacting to what happens year by year.

I know the Falcons ran into a ground game buzz saw, but Matt Ryan has improved the Falcons.

And I think if that happened that a job Gruden would take the job.

Mike McCarthy didn't ask for a raise just because he wanted more money. He was looking for compensation to accommodate the BULLSHIT he needed to deal with in Dallas. I bet McCarthy is being paid less in Pittsburgh.

One of several mind numbingly missed or blown calls by this clown ref group during this game.

Troy Aikman said on the Fish Report only a week ago that if offered the job, he'd have to strongly consider it. He did say that he would need to have real influence. He said he didn't care about the title, titles are meaningless, but that he would need real influence.

That was a week ago, two weeks at most.

And that is why I have written I hope the Cowboys continue to be humiliated. I see all sorts of memes on Instagram and more. If Jerry is humiliated enough, then maybe...

And by the way, Jimmy did release a portion of his contract on X and the contract did say Jimmy had full control over personnel. So Troy would get it in writing.

And in terms of credit, at this stage, if the team were to turn around and Troy is there, I think we all know who would get the credit and Troy is gracious enough to share it. That's really all that Jerry wanted. He wanted some of the love and Jimmy wasn't giving him any at the time.

So I think it could work.

IMO, that should not be a penalty. By the rules, I think the first one is a block to the back, but I think that rule is BS. Also, I don't see why you can't block a guy twice if the guy is getting up and it's a clean (not from behind) hit.

The NFL has become a game of pansies. Then we say, "Oh, so and so is better than Butkus" (rewatched Rocky 1 and 2 in preparation for "I Play Rocky." Sly's dog was named Butkus).

An illegal block in the back in the NFL occurs when a player uses their hands, arms, or body to push or block a non-ballcarrying opponent from behind and above the waist (between the shoulders/shoulder blades). [1, 2, 3]

Key Rule Details
    • Definition: Initial contact must be made on the opponent's back, inside the shoulders, and above the waist. [1]
    • Exceptions (When it is NOT a foul):
      • If the opponent turns away from the blocker right as contact is about to happen.
      • If both of the blocker's hands are on the opponent's side rather than directly on the back.
      • If the player is making an active, personal attempt to recover a loose ball.
      • Initial contact that starts legally on the side does not become a foul just because the player spins. [1, 2, 3]
    • Penalty: A 10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul (or from the previous spot depending on where it occurred). [1, 2]
    • Common Situations: Most frequently called during open-field plays like punt returns, kickoff returns, or interception/fumble returns where a chasing player is pushed from behind. [1, 2]
(Note: Blocking from behind below the waist is a different, more severe penalty called clipping, which typically carries a 15-yard penalty.) [1, 2]
You can check the official details in the Official NFL Rulebook. [1]

If you saw a specific play or want to know how this differs from a blindside block or clipping, let me know and I can break it down further!

No shit, I did write by the rules. But it is a stupid rule.

It's one thing to block a player who is not anywhere near the play in the back. It is another to block a player who is part of the play.

It's a DUMB rule is the point.

Like what game was I watching. Maybe the Broncos game. The DE barely touched the QB and you could tell he didn't even realize the QB didn't have the ball and it's a penalty. Yes, by the rulebook, but it is BULLSHIT.

As far as I'm concerned, that OL played the way the game should be played.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make Amigo.

Downs was almost assuredly going to make the tackle. He's clearly blocked in the back to prevent it. That's why the rule exists. As far as I know nobody has made a claim that the 2nd part of that block is a problem. It's the first part.
