Well I finally caught the Wuhan flu. After going maskless (except at work) back even when they were required in Texas and being 100% unvaccinated I finally caught it. I even took care of my wife and daughter who both caught back in June of 2020 and went maskless the entire time taking care of them without catching it.

I guess I have the Omicron variant. because it has been fairly mild. I had a runny nose and scratchy throat on Saturday. Woke up on Sunday and it was a lot worse. My wife picked up a home test at CVS which showed positive. I still managed to get all of my daily 17,000 steps yesterday although it was somewhat of a struggle. I already have 7,000 this morning. I do not want to break my steps streak which goes back to August 2020 for 17,000 daily and Jan 2018 for 10,000 daily.

I will now have superior natural immunity. I will NEVER get a vaccine even if it cost me my job.

CML, make sure you mask up and wear protective gloves when posting. We need to keep DCU safe for all.

Be careful communicating with CML. The Omicron is very contagious and can spread through the internet. I'm avoiding responding or communicating with him for at least 10 days......

CML, as you can see you are causing emotional trauma for our members. The likelihood that you can transmit this dreaded disease through our website is extremely high.

As the DCU Covid Czar Supreme, I am going to have to insist that you refrain from posting or viewing DCU for 5 days.

I was going to post something similar but not in such a cold hearted way. You're cutthroat....I like that about you.

We should consider not responding to any of his messages and yes, even banning him for 10 days. CML's right to post here is not more important than mine and everyone else's safety.

Get well soon brotha!

Great job on the steps too!

I decided to finally get serious back in April and set a goal to lose 100 lbs, today was the halfway mark at 50 lbs lost. I've averaged about 11,000 steps a day and the tracker is showing I've walked over 1600 miles since April. Given your step count, that means you've walked over 2000 miles. Its amazing how much a little effort each day adds up over time, keep up the good work, I plan to stay on your heals.

All of the above.

I walk an average of 11K steps daily, lift heavy weights M/T/T/F, eat a protein/carb/fat budget M-F (its the "If it fits your macros"--IIFYM-- strategy for tracking your intake).

On workout days I budget 180 grams of protein, 190 grams of carbs and 65 grams of fat
On the Wednesday rest day I have a budget of 180 grams protein, 75 grams carbs and 75 grams fat

I like to cook so I save most of my fat and carbs for dinner and eat super lean for lunch (I just eat an apple and black coffee for breakfast) and this gives me plenty of satisfaction as the food I eat is fantastic and doesnt feel the least bit like a "diet". Its a lifestyle I can do indefinitely, here's a couple of meals I've eaten in the last week:

Stew:

Rice, roasted bell peppers, broccolini and chicken breast:

On Saturday I eat whatever and however much I want and dont track anything and then after my last Saturday meal, I fast until Monday. This gives me a mental break and lets me have a fun day with the girlfriend and friends without worrying about diet stuff.

The fast has been a great habit thats taught me when I'm feeling actual hunger versus simply the desire to eat. Plus the practice of fasting has made me mentally stronger like the weights make me physically stronger so when I'm tempted diuring the week to eat, I'm noticing I have the discipline to not let the eating turn into a binge. Plus my stomach has shrunk so I naturally eat less as a result.

Doomsday is the one really kicking ass, I think he's close to losing 100lbs

Scott is doing great too

We all simultaneously decided to get our shit together without ever discussing it, kind of strange but cool

We want to set a great example for all to follow here, so I am thinking we will implement a "weekly" booster shot initiative. For those that comply, you might be allowed to have unlimited viewing and posting liberties. For those that don't, it could result in being able to view only once per day (during non-peak hours, as we don't want to expose our healthy members to those who don't adhere to safe, effective and proven Covid protocol) or possibly be relegated to a DCU quarantine forum.

After consulting with my esteemed colleagues at the CDC, WHO and of course DOCTOR Fauci himself, I will update our guidelines accordingly.

I didn’t necessarily decide to get my shit together per se, it’s more like I had no choice. I ended up in the ER/ICU for 4 days in a diabetic coma (Diabetic Ketoacidosis)

After I got out of the ICU I did some research and figured out what I needed to do to and what diet I needed to start to get healthy. I lost 40lbs really quickly and then I have been able to maintain my ideal weight for the last 8 months without even trying.

My sudden urge to get healthy was thrust upon me without my consent.

But strangely enough I’m glad it was. I’m healthier now than I ever was when I was half my age.

It's weird we all got "scared straight" health wise, around the same time and did our own research and licked it with plans of our own formulation and all three plans worked spectacularly.

its a minor miracle I didn't have something similar happen to me, I just felt so heavy and uncoordinated, wheezing going up stairs, indigestion daily and decided to torture myself and step on a scale.

When it said 293 and I said dude, you cant let yourself get to 300; the future is going to be rough if you don't get your shit together. So I hired a trainer and just started. I cant believe that was 274 days (& 50 lbs) ago.

I've found the following quotes inspiring along the way:

“You can’t enjoy the sunshine unless you experience the rain”

“Discipline equals freedom”

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”

“Harness the speed of time to your advantage “

“Tomorrow is coming whether we prepare for it or not”

Riddle me this:

How do you feel great about weighing in at 250 lbs?

start at 293
