And the thing is, they SHOULD be upfront on this point starting right meow. Because when they suddenly start saying we still need the masks and distancing and other precautions, there's a big segment of the population that's gonna get its back up and be saying "this proves it was never about a virus or saving lives" and so on.

They need to stop calling it a vaccine and need to start explaining what it really is and how it really works.

I have a question for everyone

How many of you plan to get the vaccine when it becomes readily available?

And if you don’t plan on getting it, why not?
No, I don't want it.

Way too early.

so what do you envision happening after he's sworn in?

All talk about Rona stops, all shut downs stop?

No more need for masks or safe distancing?

No more daily panic over infection numbers and deaths?

Everyone suddenly acts like it never existed?

If the 2nd wave in the US looks like the 2nd wave in Europe, by the end of January we should be on the downside of the latest peak. We will still have a lot of new cases and deaths but less than at the peak. The media will turn this into a positive for Biden and you can bet on that.

By the time I can get the vaccine, after health care workers and nursing home residents get it, probably more than a few hundred thousand will already have gotten it. If those people aren't dropping like flies, I will probably get it. But right now we are talking about 1 vaccine that has been approved. What happens when several are approved. I don't think we will have a choice which one we get, will we?

This new strategy though - find out the mechanism of incubation and/or infection then interfere with that, instead of trying to make the body produce antibodies - is a much more efficient way to immunize and they should look at approaching the common flu this way as well.

Right now we're still playing whackamole with flu, guessing which mutation we gonna be dealing with... But the antagonist approach seems to me like it would be much more effective and efficient in dealing with the flu. IF the mechanism of infection can be identified like covid was. Then IF that mechanism can be jacked, it wouldn't matter what strain you're dealing with. Your "vaccine" would still work.

This is why we're seeing numbers like 95 percent effectiveness for these covid meds. They're not relying on the antibody approach at all.

I plan on getting it eventually just because I live in a county with 39 million idiots and they have proven that they can’t be trusted to keep themselves safe, let alone be concerned with keeping anyone else safe

But I am in zero rush to go get it. The closest COVID has come in my life is my wife’s niece, husband, and 1 of her 3 kids tested positive. She had no signs, the kid had no signs, and her husband said it felt like a regular chest cold for a day or two then it was gone. They live over 100 miles away and never visit anyway. So it never really came close to us as far as family is concerned. But I do know a number of ppl have tested positive in my city and some have died. Not sure how many, and don’t really care.

I suppose I’ll get the vaccine after it dies down a bit and when it’s convenient for me.

It figures

Zero exposure chance, no worries, no chance of catching Covid.......

Then we get the news

the wife has been exposed because her coworker that she works 2 feet from all day everyday just let her know she tested positive.

So now we are both in self quarantine and need to get tested.

The worst part is now I’m stuck at home for 2 weeks with the fuckin wife!

I’m going to miss her going to work every day!

There is a sign that the 2nd wave in the US may in waning or we it is about to begin a steady decline. The number of serious/critical cases may have peaked 3 days ago and has declined each day since. So far, this metric has been a good indicator of which way the curve will go in the future. If the decline in serious cases continues, we should see a decline in new cases, and deaths almost immediately. This is significant, if it turns out this way, because the 2nd wave here will have been about half the duration as that of Europe and the peak will have been about half of Europe's peak on a per capita basis. The mystery will be why the US wave petered out so quickly.

We should know a lot more in a week.

It never was about the virus or saving lives...I knew this when they peddled the "15 days to flatten the curve" trope....And the despots haven't stopped moving the goalposts since then.

Now they're claiming that there's a mutated strain in England...You really gullible enough to believe that tyrant thugs like Cuomo, Nuiscance, Whitless et. al. aren't going to clamp down even tighter?

Well finally some good news

The Wife’s Covid test came back negative

Thank god, with her asthma and propensity to get pneumonia Covid would really kick her ass
