Maybe Denver will sell the farm to come to #4 and take Lynch, they will be horrible next year without a quality or rookie QB and should have a decent draft pick in the first round.

Unless they are going to send us all their picks for the next three yrs, this kind of trade would be monumentally stupid on the part of the Cowboys.

Drafting Elliot at 4 may be the worst possible direction this team can go. Granted there are no absolute studs in this draft, but taking a RB at 4 when RB's are a dime a dozen is ludicrous. McFadden who is average at best ran for 1000 yards without the threat of Romo and Dez most of the season. We saw what an average RB did behind this line when Murray was here and the team was healthy. Lets not waste the 4th overall pick on a position that isn't a need or that important

McFadden also had a number of poor games and while he broke quite a few 20-30 yds runs, he didn't seem to have that "take it to the house gear" he had in college and early in his career.

If Elliott is ranked somewhere around 4 on the Cowboys board, there's absolutely nothing wrong with picking him there. There's no holes in his game. Unless he gets hurt, its almost a virtual lock he'll be a franchise back behind this OL. He also is excellent in short yardage/goalline and does not fumble the football.

If he's drafted in the 1st round the team would have a 5th year option. If Romo is done after two years the team would still have the rookie QB for 3 years under his rookie contract.

Correct, and they'd also have the option of putting the transition or franchise tag on him year 6.

The question I have for you is can this defense be built into a championship caliber defense by next off season?

That's a brilliant question and my answer would simply be no. I good defense ranked in the top 10, yes but a top 1-3 dominant defense that would put fear in other teams like the Broncos did during the playoffs and the Ravens of old...no. I say this because we do not have the defensive lineman in place to create pressure and that's where it begins. If you have great DB's and no pass rush then it is worthless. You saw what constant pressure from the front front 4 did to Tom Brady, Big Ben and Cam Newton! An outstanding DL rotation with players who can create pressure on the QB and pocket and solid vs the run. The linebackers (although injuries are a big concern) are good enough and we need one more good CB and a safety, Scandrick will take a full playing year to regain his confidence and Jones will be a safety for most of his career.

As far as taking QB then the Cowboys may look at Lynch or one in the later rounds, even Cardale Jones was impressive to me the last 2 years and if he can sit and learn for 2 years to settle in the pocket a little more and run less. His fundamentals seems pretty sound and he has a beautiful ball that rockets out of his hands. I think he would be a steal in the 3rd round.

Horrible pick.

What else is new?

Is he probably a pretty good player? Yep. Is running back that important that you can't pass up on it to trade back and pick up multiple defensive starters? Nope.

Worst front office in football. The only F. O. I've ever seen that continually tries to make its defense not suck by making its offense a little better every year. "Keep the ball and the defense off the field, that's what makes the defense a top 20 defense." Yeah, until the defense finds itself on roller skates in the 4th qtr like we've seen in 80% of the games this team has played in the last 20 years.

Half the defense lives in a sober living facility, but they go offense with the first pick @4? Assholes. Stupid assholes. I hope the running back is good or whatever, but wtf is the deal with this team and its functionally retarded approach?

Now I'll go back and read this thread, which I'm sure is full of happy fucking people. The offense got another weapon. Whoopty-fucking-do. Maybe Garrett can run his offense now? Hopefully he gets a shiny new TE @ #34 tomorrow too. Then a small school WR with dreadlocks to return kicks to the 15 yard line. He can fair catch punts too if he wants.

Oh, this is an old thread.

I'm at least glad I seen like 4 people who weren't ok with drafting a goddamn RB at #4.

ill shove the bottle up your ass and my ass fucker

I don't know you well, so perhaps I shouldn't be so presumptuous as to offer unsolicited opinions on intensely personal decisions, but I think you should give some serious thought about using the above quote on your tombstone.

It's poetry.

Firstly remember that there could be children on these forums

Secondly, I did not think Elliot should have been picked this high or with the gold mine of RB's coming out of next years draft. The Cowboys said they had him graded as the highest RB to come out of college in 10 years, which would means he graded higher than Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson...so be it.

Third, it's a game, nothing more, nothing less. I love my Cowboys and have a been a life long fan and have listened to the draft before it was on TV and I was not pleased with this pick. But he may make the offense and defense better if we can get back on track with a monstrous running game like in 2014. I have to live with the players they chose and I will love them no matter if they are 1-15 or 14-2, although I prefer the 14-2 with a superbowl win.

Fourth, you have a few options, go work your tail off and buy a NFL team and make all the calls on draft day that you think will better your team and then read about how you did well or screwed up in the newspapers, on TV, on fan forum sites, like this one.....or you can just accept the fact that it is beyond your control and either stop watching their games and stop being a fan or continue to be a fan and hope for the best.

Over the next few seasons when Zeke has ripped off a few All Pro seasons and has won a couple of Rushing Titles no one will be complaining about this pick.

With that said they do need to go heavy on defense the rest of the draft. There are still several really good DL left. I'd like to see them go with A'Shawn Robinson in the 2nd and Ronald Blair in the 3rd.

Has anybody seen any tape of him carrying the ball in his left hand?

Curious because switching the ball to the outside arm is taught all thru early football.
