@diannaESPN: Look for the Eagles to be showing off QB Matt Barkley. Eagles sources tell me Barkley can be had for the right deal. So its showcase time!

Right deal being maybe a 6-7th.

We liked him the year he came out.

He's better than Dustin and Weeden. Young too with some upside.

No. If Chip's offense can supposedly work with just about anyone at QB and they don't see him as being anything worth keeping around, not sure he's anyone I am interested in.

Coach Red has probably asked Uncle Jerry for this guy already. Little slow, little undersized and doesn't really do all the things that really talented QBs do, but it's not about winning as much as being just the right kind of guy who can play professional football with NFL teammates.

Three-time team captain also possesses intangibles NFL teams desire at the position, taking hits and bouncing back, displaying intelligence with his multiple academic all-conference accolades, and earning a spot on the 2011 Allstate AFCA Good Works team

Depends on the compensation. I think he'd be an upgrade over our backups, and could have the potential to be a starter down the road. But I wouldn't give up anything more than a 6th rounder. Chip's probably going to keep Tebow and cut him anyway.

Why?

I know everyone loves to hate on Weeden, but he looked good vs SD and his practices since have been extremely sharp. I don't see any reason (so far) not to go with him as the backup again, and certainly wouldn't dump him for Barkley

Dbair is already in full mid season form if he's delusional enough to believe that Weeden is anything but a waste of a roster spot.

Come on man... Weeden is terrible. I want no part of him having any playing time.

If the offense had a bunch of speedsters and John Riggins, where the feasible gameplan included large doses of power running and deep passes (like a Norv Turner/Al Saunders offense is supposed to), I think Weeden would work. But he gets disorganized and anxious with pressure and Jason's offense allows QB pressure while the routes develop, so his strong arm does not make up for his executive dysfunction in pressure situations (especially when the Jason plays quickly disintegrate in first 3.5 seconds after the snap).

I'm not opposed to us replacing him, just not sure who they'd get that would be an obvious upgrade.

Well said. This offseason has been really confusing for fans who are looking for an obvious upgrade. Seems like nothing took place in the "obvious upgrade" department, when the team had open opportunity at NT, RB, backup/developmental QB, and and safety (not Lord Byron) in the draft and free agency. Even the LB didn't seem as much an obvious upgrade as much as just depth and ST.

Damien Wilson seems to fit his draft status, but Grady Jarrett and. Michael Bennett and others were available and Dallas chose players who might not even make the team because of depth. I get the feeling that Jason doesn't want to draft and develop a top tier or talented QB. He would rather work with one who is already trained in the pro offense by a pro coach and has some experience with his Coryell offense. It does sound strategic but it also reeks of incompetence.

I'm not worried about gettin an obvious upgrade. If we lose Romo for any length of time the season is over. I'm more interested in getting a backup here who might have some potential to be a future starter. Weeden is not that.

Na, I'd pass. Romo goes down we're fucked anyway so not worth the compensation.

If he was cut I'd consider it tho.
