supposedly we were going to take Arkansas DL Henry Ford had Carver not been available. Ford went a few picks later.

That draft was ultimately ruined when the trade up to take Willie McGinest didn't happen because the Pats took him at 4. We had a deal worked out with the Rams that yr and were going to trade Alvin Harper as part of the move up.

How things might have been different.

Dbair is right about Ekuban playing mean. No matter what at least the guy was nasty. Recall a game against the bears I believe where he grabbed a sacked QB by the helmet and tried to rip his head off. Had a decent season or two in Denver after he left here, if I recall. Knee injuries slowed him. And I think parcels tried to move him to OLB his last season here. Didn't take.

Might've been roid rage. I remember at camp in 2003 when they were running windsprints after practice wondering who was that dude that looked like the incredible hulk. Figured out later it was Ekuban.

And gawd, that bbgun vid of picking Carver... Lacewell in charge. Jerry and Barry. Ugh. Jerry does have that meaner, more ruthless look he had when he was younger someone was talking about.

The best thing Carver ever did was in the XFL

Carver joined the Memphis Maniax of the XFL for its lone season in 2001. After recording 32 tackles 4 sacks and 1 interception, he was recognized as one of the league's best defensive players and was named to the All-XFL team.[5] He also is remembered for delivering a particularly spectacular sack on Orlando Rage quarterback Jeff Brohm.[6]

Based on suckiness, Carpenter is hard to top.

Based on expectations and cost, Claiborne is making a strong case for himself.

Looks like Carver played 4 seasons with Dallas and tallied 11.5 sacks.

That puts him 4 sacks behind Spencer's first 4 seasons. If Carver could have hung for another year and gotten maybe 5 or 6 sacks he probably would have been franchise tagged.

I'd go with Carver and Carpenter, but if Claiborne continues to disappoint, in a few years he could take the top spot.

Claiborne shouldn't even be in the discussion. He's 1 1/2 years into his career. Doesn't look good now, but things can change.

Yeah, putting Claiborne in there is kinda odd. He's young still. And he did have that one interception against Carolina last year.
