@nickeatman: I said hours ... I didnt say how many hours!
How the fuck can anyone say that when a 9-7 Giants team that barely won the division over us in 2011 ended up winning the Super Bowl? Or the fact that we again got into the final game of the season this past year 9despite being crippled by injuries) and had a chance to win the division again?
I really cant argue with this, although I can see both sides. I've been roasted on here by a few people though for supporting what you just said, that perhaps its time to move on from Romo, free the cap space now (and the future) and get a really good package of picks in return for him.
It means nothing if we still have Jerry Jones running the team. He'll still waste draft picks and overspend on questionable free agents.
Romo gives us a chance to win despite all of this team's handicaps. Dumping Romo and going with whatever Quarterback Jerry has decided is "the future" is a scary proposition.
Yea true..jerry cant evaluate qbs for shit.
You didn't like Anthony Wright, Clint Stoerner, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Ryan Leaf, and Drew Henson?
Could be almost anything. Depends on how its structured. if you took a basic guess at it and assumed the 30 guaranteed was spread out over the entire 4 yrs, that'd be 7.5 mils per season just to cover that. he probably has minimal base salaries so probably worst case scenario is new cap charge would be somewhere around 8-9 mils, saving 7 or so immediately for us.
Its possible it could be structured with guaranteed money being paid in future years too though, meaning his cap charge this year could be much less than 8-9 mils.
4 years - 68 million - 30 guaranteed

Dalton sucks.
some bonehead Ian Rappaport claiming today that Cowboys and Romo are "nowhere close to an extension"
What about the money that has been previously restructured and is slotted for this year? That 5.5M or so doesn't just go away does it?
Seems like teams could just scheme the hell out of the system if it did.
I don't think the savings will be as great as expected.
7.5M for the new shit, 5.3M
even using your numbers, which I don't think will be what they actually end up being, creates about $4 million in cap room.
