Let Romo do it

Why not let Romo call the plays himself? The only time the offense moved the ball last year, was when they went to hurry up and he was directing traffic.

I know the obvious downside is that he seems to have enough on his plate with his decision making. It may not be a good idea to add to the load.

Garrett obviously has lost whatever he had going in 2007. He can't call a game to save his life. I'm a huge Garrett hater. He can't manage a game for shit. Clock management, play calling, and decision making are all lacking. One thing I will give him is, the team hasn't quit on him. He's getting another year, but he needs to be stripped of play calling.

There aren't many, if any, viable options out there. Bill Callahan? Give me a break.

If it were announced tomorrow that Romo was going to call his own plays using the Garrett playbook, what would be your reaction?

I don't think that's a recipe for long-term success in the league. Even Peyton has calls in he just is free to change whatever he wants.

IDK what Kapernick was doing yesterday with all the hand symbols (maybe snap count or nonsense) but I hate seeing that borderline-retard in the super bowl.

Felt really bad for Matt Ryan yesterday. Put the ball right on Harry Douglas for what should be a TD and he gets eaten by the turf monster. Shades of Crayton.

It would be good to utilize after a period of stagnation from the offense to jump start it, but I wouldn't use it all game long.

Am I the only person that thinks the people who think the 2min drills/street ball that has led to a lot of our successful drives are idiots?

There is a lot that goes into it...it's not a magic fuckin wand where we run a 2min no huddle offense and wallah...touch fucking down...

Get a fuckin clue, people

I like seeing Kaepernick and the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Because it shows up Jerry. I like seeing a team with good coaching, and a dominant Oline--TWO THINGS THE COWBOYS DON'T HAVE... with a solid running game all commandeered by a mediocre QB at best, appear in the Super Bowl.

I dont know why people forget, but Romo basically calls all the plays himself already.

He goes to the line with two play calls every down from the reports that have been noted over the years. Many times he can clearly be seen changing the play at the LOS too.

Romos notoriously a slow starter...he's specifically said himself that it usually takes a little bit of time for him to figure out what the defense is trying to do..but eventually he gets it and has a good feel from that point forward

He gets a run and a pass play.

Thats a little different than calling your own plays.

And nobody is suggesting that we run the 2 minute drill all game long.

He's still making the ultimate choice, normally at the LOS

Reasonably sure he has a significant input on the overall gameplan as well.

Last QB to get to exlcusively call his own plays was Jim Kelly and his K-Gun offense. Before that, Sam Wyche let Boomer Esiason call his own plays.

Coaches just don't trust QB's to call the plays, make the reads, and then execute all by themselves. Even Peyton Manning gets plays sent into him.

Then what exactly are you suggesting sheik? Romo be Terry Bradshaw?

It was an idea.

Im saying give romo free reign of the playbook. Let him call whatever plays he sees fit. Whatever routes he wants.

Im not saying go out there and completely wing it. No drawing up plays on the fly. That wouldn't be smart, and no coach/organization would allow it.

Glorydays came in here spouting off about how only yards would think the 2 min offense is doable. No shit. 2 minute defenses are completely different. No team is running out there in the 1 st qtr giving a team the middle of the field and playing their safeties 40 yards deep.

it was a question of what would your reaction be if Romo was given the freedom to call the offense.

Fine, let him call plays. Until they fix the OL he'll look as stupid calling plays as the other guy because they cant block, especially for the run.

The other guy shares some of the blame for his offensive line.

If we're to believe Jason has any clout, he signed off on this offensive piece of shit line.

True. Cant argue against that. Also think Callahan had significant input, which is another reason I really dont care if he returns or not.

lol Seemed like a pretty simple question to answer to me.

I wouldn't be cool with it though. I mean don't get me wrong, I think Romo would be a hell of a lot better than Garrett but I'd like to take some pressure off of Romo. I think he desperately needs help. As does Garrett.

Garrett needs someone to call the plays because a.) he sucks at it and b.) he needs to focus more on his game management. Personally, I'd rather have the Belichick/Coughlin type coach anyway.

Romo needs someone to call plays to alleviate the pressure. Its no secret he folds, and I think a lot of that has to do with him having so much on his shoulders. He needs help with the play calling.
