and I am going to make here in a few days a video on a handful of plays that swung the season last year, most of
those are negative and feature newman. again you would probably have no problem with those.

bbgun has always been a closet Redskin fan. Which is ok, because he's really good for photos.

I'm not here to hold your hand, buddy. If you can't understand the fundamental problems with the Ginger experiment, then that's on you. Plus, it's good for Jerry to have fans who continue to happily drop thousands on tickets no matter what he does.

Keep it going, because he truly cares about you and about fielding a contender. I promise.

true because, nothing will change jerry and stephen from doing want.

i like the nfl and I just would never not go.

there are lots of cities in a lot of sports where fans stopped buying tickets and it never does anything.

and of all the places it absolutely would not do anything its this city, this team makes like 30 million dollars a year in revenue from stadium tours alone.

Lot of different stuff going on in this thread...

I don't get the big deal, theebs. You said yourself you never liked Wade Phillips, didn't think he was the right person to lead the team, but you still thought the team could win. So what's wrong with some of us (very few of us really) feeling the same about Garrett?

Just like I thought Avery Johnson was over his head, too young and inexperienced, and wasn't nearly as smart as he believed he was... But I was still a Mavs fan, and still wanted them to win. And they did for the most part because they had good players and Avery wasn't -so- bad that he could screw it up.

And I don't know if the Parcells hate comment was directed at me, maybe not. Some have said that to me before. But while I think some of the hardcore Parcells fans overstate what he did here, believe me, I like Parcells 100000000x more than Garrett. Parcells was a little too stuck in his ways and made some questionable personnel moves here, but he was a true HOF coach and the league's best turnaround artist maybe ever, and hiring him was the best move Jerry could've made. Garrett has zero of that going for him. All he has is the hope that an Ivy League degree and years of carrying Troy's clipboard actually makes him a good coach, which of course it doesn't.

But can we still win, sure. No one thinks the Ravens won their Bowl because of Brian Billick, I hope. Or that we won our last one because of Switzer. With good enough players, anyone but the Campos of the world will win. Probably 90% of what NFL coaches do are similar anyway. The Belichicks of the world are rare.

Like UVA said though, I do wish Jerry had truly conducted a search to hire the best available coach in the world once Phillips was canned. He had months to do that, unlike when Parcells quit. But did he, no. Instead he hired his longtime handpicked boy.

And as far as what the Garrett fanboys say, it won't matter if we lose because if we do it won't be his fault anyway. lol But I bet if we win he'll get the credit where it should be going to Romo and co.

no the parcells hate comment was not directed at you at all...its mostly just the general fan reaction and local media reaction where that was rampant and drove me crazy...

listening to him being referred to as a glorified gym coach is stupid.

and I am pretty sure we all like him 100000x more than garrett, how could you not.

oh and there is nothing wrong with you guys feeling like that just like there is nothing wrong with me hoping that he has improved along with the team.....

I was no fan of his last year either, that patriots 4th qtr makes me crazy still.

rewatched that game the other day by the way and forgot that romo hit robinson for what should have been a td but arringont just interfered on purpose.......we would have had first and goal at the 1 and instead we ended up with a flag on kosier for holding and it offset then we lost yards and got no points........

that kind of stuff is really what has sunk this team through the previous few years.

So did you not think they had a serious contender after the Seattle loss in '06, Theebs?

The core is essentially the same from that team. A lot of this comes down to shaky coaching over the past 5 seasons.

Finding a coach is not the same as finding a stud left tackle. In a league where there are so many experienced and talented coaches available (like Jim Harbaugh one season ago), it's really a travesty if your organization is losing games that directly involve coaching blunders.

It shows that not only is your coach weak at his own job, but he sure as hell is not doing important outside of his job like helping to develop the talent on the team.

When you leave those duties to idiots like Campo and his nerdy TE coach brother, then you likely end up with players like Sensabaugh and Martellus, who don't know how to do shit on actual gamedays. Plus, if they're really stacking practices, then I'm pretty sure the receivers would have a clue as to where to line up during plays.

No matter what couchscout tells you, blunders on the field do highly reflect on poor coaching.

The fact that this conversation is happening is 110% proof to me why this board trumps the Zone. Have an opinion, have a disagreement, and have no concern about moderators censoring you.

Good shit men.

That's right I'm talking to you Hostile.

{High Five}

People downplay coaching so much, but teams like last year's Niners and the 2011 Mavs show exactly how good coaching can get you over. Carlisle spanked Spoelstra like a bitch for 4 straight games during that finals series for the title.

Unfortunately, Avery got spanked the same way by the refs and Riley back in '06. This will be the last time I speak of that publicly. :tear

As far as Garrett, to me the only "evidence" of him being a brilliant future head coach is Jerry saying it over and over again. He had some buzz his first few years as an OC but then teams figured him out and publicly called him on it. His playcalling has been pretty awful and he made one of the biggest blunders in NFL coaching history last year.

Personally, I like his attitude of discipline he talks about but he doesn't really seem to have the power to take control of this team. It still very much is Jerry's team, unfortunately for all of us.
