As far as Garrett, to me the only "evidence" of him being a brilliant future head coach is Jerry saying it over and over again. He had some buzz his first few years as an OC but then teams figured him out and publicly called him on it. His playcalling has been pretty awful and he made one of the biggest blunders in NFL coaching history last year.

Personally, I like his attitude of discipline he talks about but he doesn't really seem to have the power to take control of this team. It still very much is Jerry's team, unfortunately for all of us.

I agree and disagree.

I agree that Garrett HAS to improve his in game management-SIGNIFICANTLY

I disagree in the sense that-from a straight leadership perspective, I believe Garrett has all the tools.

I also agree that coaching is an incredibly vital piece to a teams success.

I think he could be a decent head coach if A) he didn't have a meddling clown of an owner (or stood up to him Parcells style) and B) if he gave up playcalling duties.

This is all in game stuff..no question This is his biggest weakness..

It's his leadership abilities that leads me to believe he can succeed

Saying that the team will be all disciplined and standing during press conferences doesn't actually translate onto the field.

Romo had to be player/coach after Austin went down. And it's not like the offensive coaching staff changed during the offseason.

Only in Dallas (and Oakland)...

What exactly makes you believe that?

A lot of different things

1) just listening to his pressers, I get the vibe he gets it
2) multiple different players have stated he gets it
3) he's continuously evaluating himself..super important IMO
4) he reaches out to others for help
5) he has a proven track record for fixing areas of need
6) I don't think it's a kowinkeedink that our offseason attendance is 99%..it's starts from Garrett
7) IMO, he has a great understanding of what a successful organization SHOULD look like and he's molding this organization likewise
8) he's continuously preaching the right things
9) he also leads by example-works very hard, detail oriented, and meticulous
10) He's developing a family atmosphere

Again-I think Garrett has a lot of exceptional qualities.. Qualities that are incredibly important from a head coach.

However, I also think he has some major flaws. Most notably, his in game management. IMO, it's much easier to learn the things Garrett is poor at than the things Garrett is good at. So that does give me reason for optimism.

It's mostly bs though. Garrett was talkin about importance of swag.

"romos got swag, wittens got swag, Owens has swag". Then when it comes time to start a new regime he got his way and Owens was out.

You work with what you got. I think he's changing out the non lazy players but we still make big mistakes at big moments

1) just listening to his pressers, I get the vibe he gets it - He definitely talks a good game.
2) multiple different players have stated he gets it - They said the same thing about Wade.
3) he's continuously evaluating himself..super important IMO - Not really, he refuses to give up playcalling and focus on running the whole team.
4) he reaches out to others for help - Jerry forcing himself on Garrett during games doesn't count.
5) he has a proven track record for fixing areas of need - Interior OL disagrees with you.
6) I don't think it's a kowinkeedink that our offseason attendance is 99%..it's starts from Garrett - It was 100% during the lockout.
7) IMO, he has a great understanding of what a successful organization SHOULD look like and he's molding this organization likewise - Never happen until we get a real GM, who is accountable for his actions.
8) he's continuously preaching the right things - Agreed.
9) he also leads by example-works very hard, detail oriented, and meticulous - Outside of true self-evaluation, also agreed.
10) He's developing a family atmosphere - Not sure that matters.

Yeah the Pats lost that Super Bowl bc Belichick's dad doesn't come to practice and run 35 min miles around the building.

Is garrett simultaneously trying to rebuild the team while Remaining competitive.

It seems that we're taking our lumps at OL so we can rebuild it his way. It's not like we're really any worse than the giants . Why can't we out together 4 good games in January

Lack of quality depth thanks to a General Manager who reaches for players, relies on undrafted players too often, and signs medicore free agents without any consequences for his poor decisions.

6) what's your point?
7) still just talking and nothing else
10) absolutely matters
