Bob jacking my decastro ain't all that thing and goin a little too far.

I'll take that for 10 years and run. I just think if you're going to draft a guard the highest one has gone in 15 years he should be a monster. I never thought decastro was beastly. Just a top to bottom solid A-.

I'm intrigued by the disruptive upside of cox and coples and the more impressive game tape and potential of cordy Glenn. But settling for decastro is a safe, prudent way to go. The allure of a playmaking defender is about as high on our needs list so that's why passing on some of these guys for a guard can be tough to swallow

That's great and all. But is having a pro bowl guard absolutely necessary?

Having a probowl guard isnt an absolute necessity.

Getting good players is an absolute necessity. This guys a really good player, and could be an elite player at his position for a long time. There is never anything wrong with that scenario.

No, I'm saying without Larry Allen there is a chance Emmitt doesn't hold the record right now.

That's the impact a pro-bowl guard can make.

Emmitt was great before Larry Allen got here. I love Allen and he's the most dominant OL I've ever seen, but Allen wasnt a fulltime starter until his 2nd season (1995) and Emmitt was absolutely all world from 91-94, especially 91-93.

How would Cox be another Spencer He plays a completely different position.

And yes, I'd tak Fletcher over DeCastro. He's the only one likely to be available when we pick that I'd take over DeCastro.

I wouldnt, though I could understand why some would and wont complain if the Cowboys did just that.

So where is this magical cutoff in the 1st round when Gs are acceptable to take?

16th pick? 18th pick?

I still don't believe he gets the record without Allen in front of him through his career.

No doubt it helped having him, but Emmitt was tearing it up behind guys like John Gesek and Kevin Gogan before Allen got started.

How high is too high for maybe the best guard in a draft. Considering they never go this high, 12th? 10th?

Steve Hutchinson was drafted 17th, and some say DeCastro is the best guard to come out in the draft since him.

So, 14th isn't too high if you can get that kinda quality.

Seems obvious. Decastro would make life easier for both Murray and Romo. He'd solidify the position for years.

He'll hopefully outlast the ginger Vinny Del Negro head coach we have too.

I keep trying to tell people Dallas will not select an offensive guard with the 14th overall pick in the first round, it makes no sense. This year's draft is deep enough at guard to get real quality players in rounds three and four.

Mike Iupati was taken at 17 was that to high ?

I will put money on Philly taking him at 15

so we get to watch him beat up our D line for the next 10 years

Again, overvalueing a pick because it fits a need.

lol at the Larry Allen comparison. DeCastro isn't going to be man-handling people at the next level. He gets by on athleticism, hustle and positioning.

You're not very good at reading comprehension. He wasnt comparing DeCastro to Larry Allen. He was showing what an all Pro/Pro Bowl Guard can do for you. Never did he say sure fire Hall of Famer.

You're right. I fail to comprehend stupidity.

It's a failing of mine.
