Not a big deal. In my 34 years, I can't think of a single time I've ever had to use my spleen.

Witten out at least for rest of preseason with spleen injury
Posted by Mike Florio on August 15, 2012, 10:46 AM EDT

Getty ImagesCowboys owner Jerry Jones says he held his breath when tight end Jason Witten took a wicked hit from Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain on Monday night.

Jones may not have exhaled yet.

Dan Patrick strongly hinted in one of the early segments of The Dan Patrick Show that Witten may have suffered a spleen injury, and that it could be serious.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Witten indeed suffered a spleen injury, which resulted in internal bleeding. Per the source, Witten will miss the rest of the preseason.

At this time, it’s not believed that surgery will be required. But it hasn’t completely been ruled out.

Witten also hasn’t been ruled out for the Week One game against the Giants. The fact that the Cowboys and Giants open on Wednesday night could make it harder for Witten to be ready to go.

Thank you Jason Garrett.

I am so glad romo and witten had to get there 12 plays in, yet DEz Bryant was on the sideline because he is so special.

Just wonderful.

This strike like 7 for Garrett.

I knew something bad had happened to Witten on that play. Could just tell by the way he reacted to it.

Kristie scales said he got up and took himself out and refused the doctors.

All for a quota of plays. Yet jerrys golden boy was not playing.

Exactly right. He didn't look right leaving the field and didn't come back in. I even thought he was hiding something when Lisa Salters interviewed him and asked him if he was hurt.

The guy shouldn't even have been in the game at that point with our offense a total mess. All for the first preseason game. Still don't see why Palmer came out after two series or whatever and our starters were in there in the second quarter.

I'm starting to not like Jason Garrett.

It isn't like he's (Witten) out for the season or anything, but it still stinks that the 1st team offense isn't going to have many/any opportunities to practice together as a complete unit before the regular season.

Mickey said yesterday that he was told there was a quota of 12 plays for those guys and they played 11.

Yet DEz was not required? Why because he is jerrys golden boy.

This is terrible and it's on garrett's shoulders.

Was this on our 3rd series?

I think it was the first play of the third series or the second down on the second series.

Either way he came back in again and got slammed down on the final third down play...?

Why?

Turned on the Dan Patrick show to see what he was saying. Said he heard about this last night and followed up with a different source this morning to confirm it. Says they're trying to treat with antibiotics but surgery may be necessary.

And... Just said in his opinion from what he hears, he thinks Witten will probably miss the opener! :Emo

When was romo in the game without Dez? I don't recall that
