Don't forget the shitty coaching and scheme...
The scheme is fucking horrible on the front and back end. People who study this stuff have commented on it quite a bit this year.
That said, Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson are the two worst starting safeties in the league and have been for quite some time. Neither one of them knows how to play pass defense, neither one of them makes any plays on the ball unless it's just something thrown right to them (which rarely happens). They are ALWAYS late coming over for the "help" on double cover reps. And now Hooker has turned into a complete pussy as a tackler (IMO he's actually tackled worse than Diggs for most of this yr). His effort last week v Washington was pathetic.
Hooker has ONE pass defensed for the entire season (and of course no ints). He's been credited with two TFL's and has no sacks or forced fumbles. Wilson is not any better. He has two picks (one a deflection I think, the other was the ball Russell Wilson threw right to him back in week two) He has a paltry 5 passes defensed. So combined these two have a total of 6 passes defensed, 2 picks, 5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble. For comparison purposes, Falcons rookie FS Xavier Watts has 10 passes defensed and 5 interceptions.
