I think if DementiaMan pardon's his son for serious crimes, like tax evasion, influence peddling, money laundering, etc. it will end his career, which is over anyway, but even some Democrats would distance themselves from him. Manchin is on the verge of turning Independent, or Republican as it is. Plus, it would make the persecution of conservatives, and particularly Trump, even more egregious.

I kind of liked Manchin till he pulled that 180 and caved on that Build Back worse bill that he complained about for months and months. Now that he is essentially why it passed he is complaining about it again.

Allowing prejudicial evidence into the trial like character witnesses and the Access Hollywood tape was a big mistake and showed partiality towards the accuser. At the same time he denied evidence in the trial that would have put a light on Carrol's own character and credibility. For example, the defense could not bring up the genesis of the original complaint, who was financing her case, or that she had made similar complaints against other men in her book.

The Jury verdict made no sense either. Carrol specifically accused Trump of raping her in a ridiculous story about some kind of incident that happened in an upscale department store in NY. But her claims were not witnessed by anyone even though Bergdorf -Goodman has sales reps to attend to each of their customers. The jury did not find the evidence for rape but did find Trump liable for sexual abuse, a charge Carroll never made. Plus, they found Trump liable for defamation when he denied he raped Carroll and claimed she was lying. The jury agreed with him but still found he defamed her!

Trump should get an appeal. This verdict should be overturned on appeal as well. The only question is can Trump get a fair trial anywhere in the country? I think not. We have come to a point now where jurors have be questioned on their politics because Democrats have shown multiple times they cannot be trusted to be impartial.

I completely agree, but I also believe Democrats on juries cannot be impartial anymore. In fact, I think they lie and seek out juries to convict Republicans and acquit Democrats. The Michael Sussman perjury trial is a perfect example but there are others. Sussman was charged with lying to FBI agents during an investigation. The DOJ had emails and text messages to prove what he told them was not true and he had to know it. If you recall, Sussman went to the FBI to report the Trump alpha bank connection and told the FBI he was coming to them on his own and not on behalf of a client. That was not true. He was working indirectly for the Clinton campaign and went to the FBI o behalf of a Clinton legal firm who paid him for doing so. It was an open and shut case. But the jury acquitted him on all charges. The jury foreperson, a liberal Democrat from Virginia, told the media he was acquitted because " there are more important things to worry about".
