This is bullspit. Take a vote without ending the filibuster and let Democrats go on record as opposing a bill to secure our elections. Publish the text of the bill and let Democrats go on TV and defend their votes. I get why some might not want to end the filibuster. But by not taking any vote, even a losing one, would do two things. First, it would make Democrats cast a public vote and then defend that vote. and second, it would demonstrate to Americans who overwhelmingly support voter ID and other security measures why Republicans have to end the filibuster.
Republicans seem to be bad at politics.
The other ting they should do is rush to pass a constitutional amendment to keep the Supreme Court at 9 justices. Again, make Democrats go on record showing they plan to expand the court again for politics. Keep taking votes that expose Democrats for what they are. Take a vote giving health care and other freebies to illegals. Even if they can't muster 60 votes in the senate, they still expose Democrats to the public.

I seem to remember they were mostly mum on the subject. Outside of the Tea Party which insisted not enough was being done. They wanted mass deportations using freight trains lol.

I remember that. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer took it upon her state to start securing their own borders because the federal government wasn't doing enough. She was protecting Arizona from basically an invasion. Rather than sending federal troops to protect Arizona, Obama sued the state to stop enforcing immigration laws, and the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the federal government. Arizona had to back off and allow illegal immigrants to overrun their state.
