Derek Chauvin is in prison for 24 years for a crime he did not commit. He was put there for 1 reason and that was to appease the angry mobs who had no interest in justice. Mobs never do. But never forget, our government went along with this entire charade. They imprisoned a cop who was just doing his job. Floyd resisted arrest after committing a felony. He was placed in a cop car and he escaped before he was taken to the ground and Chauvin kneeled on his back, as he was trained to do.
Contrast this situation with the shooting of Ashlii Babbit. Babbit was unarmed and her worst crime was trespassing. But cops that were guarding the door where Babbit were shot did not stop the protesters from trying to break the glass. Babbit was not one of those attempting to break the glass in the doors. In fact, she was caught on video punching another protester for trying to break the glass. Multiple eye-witnesses never hear the cop, William Byrd issue a warning. What they saw was Byrd coming out of another corridor brandishing his weapon. He fired 1 shot killing Babbit almost immediately. about 45 seconds after he shot Babbit, he radioed to other CH cops that shots were fired, never mentioning it was he who had fired the one and only shot at Ashlii Babbit. Shortly after that he radioed again that one person was down, again not mentioning that he was the one who shot the wounded person. When Babbit was shot two uniformed CH cops carrying assault rifles were coming up the stairwell behind Babbit. Neither armed cop attempted to clear the protesters, or stop Babbit. Both were in the potential path of the bullet Byrd fired if it had been deflected by Babbit's body.
Not only was William Byrd exonerated. He was promoted to Captain at some point after the shooting.
There are no two cases that demonstrate more what is wrong with America today. One innocent man is sitting in prison for murder, while another man is a Captain on the Capitol Hill folice force.
