Sell me on: keeping Claiborne and/or Carr

I read a lot lately on various other Cowboys forums people wanting to keep Claiborne and/or Carr "for the right price", or fear mongering with the usual Spagnola bullshit of "well, who you gonna replace them with?"

Both of these guy have been abject disasters in my opinion. Carr hasn't picked off a pass in over two fucking seasons. This is remarkable to me. A cardboard cut out of Everson Walls would pick off more passes than that. I think even *I* could come up with one by sheer accident if I was out there that long. To me, the right price for Carr is "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!" I don't want to see him wearing the star even if he offers to pay the team to let him play.

And Claiborne. The. Next. Deion. Has picked off what? Three passes in his entire career? Something horrible like that. "Who am I going to get" to replace him? Any JAG off the UFA scrap heap will do the same job. I have no fear of life without Mo. Didn't the defense actually improve when he was lost to injury in 2014? I don't remember exactly but it seems like it did experience addition by subtraction on that one.

So in short, I can't see any logical basis for keeping either one of these guys. Anybody got anything?

Claiborne will probably have to be let go, just because he's not going to want to take what we will offer him on the free agent market. Some other team will give him a decent deal on his untapped potential.

I would like to have Carr back, hopefully on a pay cut reworked deal. He gets burned from time to time, but all things considered, teams don't try to attack him much. Not saying he's locking anyone down, but he does hold his own as the #1 CB. We need to upgrade the position, and if he's the #2 CB, I would have more confidence in the secondary.

Claiborne is a DUMB player. Too dumb to ever reach his so called physical potential. Dumb enough to keep making the same mistakes and never learning from them. Yes we will improve with him on another team's roster.

I don't want either here, and I don't get the "who you gonna replace him with" argument.

Uh, they both are ineffective players.... so you can basically replace them with anyone.

Carr as a June 1st cut saves us something like 6M. Ba bye. I would like to keep Claiborne but not sure how much he will cost.

If Henderson leaves, a new DB coach might be able to get more out of Claiborne. If he isnt pricey I'd consider keeping him. (Claiborne). Not for a long term deal though. Maybe a 1 or 2 yr deal.

Carr is a massive waste of cap space, if he isnt released something is seriously wrong. Just because he "plays every week" (media line with him) isnt cause for him to count the masive charge he has year in and year out without every making a damn play.

Both need to be gone as does perennial underachiever Barry Church. Stop allowing guys to stay who simply can't get the job done just because they are good guys or try hard. Fuck them. Get new bodies and a new coach. This secondary was suspect during 2014 season too, people just overlooked it because the running game was keeping the defense off the field.

Orlando Scandrick and Byron Jones should be brought back and Midswat's favorite player J.J. Wilcox should be moved to strong safety and told he will need to compete for the job.

All of this.
What game this year was it they switched Carr to cover the TE down the seam, and he still got beat?
Anyway fuck these two.Like I said earlier,I was under the impression Mo was playing better this year, but I was wrong.

Claiborne started off the year playing really well. His health is the concern. I think he can be a decent #2 corner if he accepts being paid like a #2 cb.

Carr doesn't offer anything for the money he makes. 36 straight games without an interception. That's pathetic for a starting cb being paid like a top 5 cb.

It feels like Claiborne is a coaching staff favorite for some reason. Hell, maybe it's just stubborness where they won't want to admit that trade up was a mistake. I bet we re-sign him.

To think we could've stayed put and had Fletcher Cox.

Niners won a SB with three rookies in the secondary, but we just gotta retain one or two proven disappointments. Both can be replaced with a 1st or 2nd round rookie and a mid-priced free agent (Prince Amuka-Nigeria?)

I agree with this. Carr needs to go. Claiborne I wouldn't mind having back for one more season. He just needs to stay healthy. I wouldn't lose any sleep if we let him walk tho.
