@toddarcher: Told the Cowboys will be looking at some RBs but not the ones everybody has linked them too, like, ... well, you now who's been mentioned

So no Rice, CJ, or Jackson? Any guesses?

Ben Jarvis Green Ellis would be my random guess.

I like Knowshon Moreno, Ahmad Bradshaw or Ben Tate (although he is mental). Of course all of them have had injury issues.

edit: Read that Moreno plans on not playing in 2015 because his knee is still messed up.

Holy hell...just go sign Chris Johnson already.

Yeah, expect some D3 superstar from St. John's-Minnesota who started all four years and racked up 10,000 yards playing against 5'9" linebackers and white cornerbacks.

OXNARD, Calif. -- While the Dallas Cowboys will welcome Darren McFadden to the practice field for the first time today in training camp and should have Lance Dunbar (ankle) and Joseph Randle (oblique) available at least on a limited basis, the Cowboys will work out three running backs today.

According to sources, Ben Malena, who was with the Cowboys during training camp last summer and spent time on the Houston Texans practice squad last year, Michael Hill and Zach Bauman will get to show what they can in a bid to earn a training camp invite.

Gus Johnson, who started Thursday’s preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers, suffered a separated shoulder and is likely to be held out of contact for more than a week.

Of the three, Hill is the only one to have played in a regular-season game, appearing in eight of them for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers in 2013. He had nine carries for 23 yards and two catches for 23 yards for the Bucs. He was cut by the Washington Redskins last month.

Malena was let go by the Texans in May, but recently worked out for them.

Bauman spent time last year on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad before he was released in May. He is the all-time leading rusher at Northern Arizona. He had 16 carries for 49 yards in the preseason last year.

I think Ray Rice is the most talented running back left out there.

I changed my opinion on Ray Rice. Before, somewhere on this board, I've said that I would pass on him and that he might be done given how he preformed in his last season. But recently it came out that in 2013 he was playing with an injured hip flexor or something like that. I don't really remember. If thats true then I take back what I said. If I was a team in need of a RB Ray Rice would be top of my list.

I don't think we're at that point yet of needed a RB like him. We made our choice to go with Randle and McFadden. But if one of those guys were to get hurt for a lengthy amount of time or McFadden couldn't get healthy then I would definitely be in favor of signing Ray Rice. I'd love to see what a healthy Ray Rice would do behind this line.

You were saying?

Ben Malena is quick and I think his style of running is important for the offense, but why not get a running back with a history of strong NFL results or freaky speed/size/quickness. My guess is that Hill was voted team captain, best hard worker on the team and somehow impressed Nick Saban, Norv Turner, or Billy Jean King. There's always some hint into Jason's blithering idiocy within these moves. I'm going to guess its Saban. I saw something about Hill running well against SEC players in a second tier college all star game.

Here is a highlight of Hill. Very physical but who knows.

Curvin richards, Derrick lassic, Derrick Coleman.. They can handle the load with emitt out.

We're in trouble. Get a proven veteran in here ASAP.

Give me ray rice. Who give a fork about his mma career. I want a super bowl.

If they get a name RB to be a factor here it wont be until after the Vikes game at the earliest, and probably not until after the final preseason game.

Until Randle/McFadden/Dunbar show as a group they cant do the job, there's no reason to do anything.
