"He supposedly "confirmed" that Romo audibled out of a run play at the goal line.

I'm sure he said something about how the stadium shop actually sold 49ers merchandise today and made a killing.

Jerry Jones: "We are not good enough to come back from that kind of start."

Jerry Jones acknowledged Romo checked out of run play on second series that led to a sack and FG instead of TD.

If they don't want Romo audibleing into those situations, they need to take that right away from him. And they need to just line it up and pound the ball in that situation.

I didn't see the game... But did Romo audible out of the run, or did he just check to the second option on the play? If the playcaller is giving him a check out to a pass play, then that's on him.

He changed the play.

Then to make it worse, he took the sack instead of throwing the ball away and leaving 3rd and a half yard.

Romo basically gave the team no chance to win today. Not sure what his issue was. he had great pass protection most of the game, we ran the ball great and receivers were constantly open. He just made bad decisions and poor throws.

His first pick he threw into triple coverage despite Terrance Williams running wide open down the middle of the field. He threw another one into double coverage trying to hit Dez deep, he threw an awful one in the endzone when he didn't throw to a wide open Dwayne Harris, but instead scrambled and lobbed a late one into the middle for Witten who was covered all over and ball was easily intercepted.

Sturm says it was a run/pass option, and he checked to the run. That's on the playcaller IMO. DON'T GIVE HIM THE EFFING OPTION!

He's still trying to do what he maybe sorta usedtacould do before the surgery. He is gonna have to wake up and realize he's not at all the same player he once was and go from there. "It's a process."

The way this offense is constructed is to dictate that a check should be made based on what the defense shows him. Sounds like Linehan hasn't changed that.

That's not on his back or him being rusty. It's on the construction of the offense. The offense lines up, the defense gets aligned, and if they are aligned in a certain way, Romo checks with the WR and they run the checked-to play while the other 9 guys continue running the original play called.

And... perhaps this is the thing being missed here. Why is Jerry commenting on play calls and checks? Garrett said in his presser that he wasn't going to get into specifics about what play was called, etc. No owner should be commenting on the play. No GM should be commenting on the play. If a GM wants to be informed about what happened, then I might be able to see that, but I don't even think most GMs would do that. This guy's inserting himself into every process on this team.

It would be one thing if the cancer in this team was contained in the brain... but it has been spread to the mouth, lungs, prostate, and colon.

What IS on his back and him being rusty is CAN HE STILL EXECUTE the play he checks to.

Clearly the answer is NO so far.

There's no doubt the system hasn't changed. I haven't seen anyone saying that. The question is, can Romo still operate that system.

The worst thing about this is that it sounds like Jerry got on Red about it and Red simply passed the buck. 'Uh, it was Romo's idea, sir'.

It remains to be seen if it's rust or the back. Those two aren't the same. If it's rust, I presume he will knock that off with more reps and be back to normal, executing the plays correctly. If it really is the back, God help us.

I think we all were fairly certain the system hadn't changed. Just hearing all this confirmed it... which makes the "commitment to the run" mantra meaningless.

Yup.

Clearly Romo cannot escape anymore, cannot run, and no longer can really throw with authority. Problem is he is only just finding out for himself he cannot do these things anymore. He is a new QB, Tony Bledsoe, and he will have to learn to deal with his new body.

No way, I want him to fully realize the extent of the disaster he's created.

I don't think he ever would come to that conclusion. If they were 1-15 again he'd be talking about how competitive the team was in 10 of the 15 losses.
