I just noticed the little flag below my avatar says that I am in Mexico. I am not sure how that is happening. I am on my work computer connected through a VPN working from home about 90 miles East of Houston in the Beaumont area. I do work for a multi-national but foreign owned company so who knows how they have everything routed. o_O

The flag is generatd by a 3rd party addon that uses your IP address to determine what flag to display. It's common for VPNs to show IP addresses which are radically different from your physical location. It's actually one of the purposes of using a VPN.

You can set your VPN to show that you are virtually anywhere in the world. The company may have selected Mexico as the place of origin on the VPN.

For example, if I'm working a case that originated in another state I will set my VPN to make it "look Like" I'm accessing my computer from that state. Just in case someone gets suspicous and goes snooping around my business.

For them what might be using mobile browsers only, or might be using tapatalk, here's what the OP is talking about.
