Leary is leery of OTAs

What type of scheme do Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Tennessee run? Tennessee has a need for an upgrade at Guard, especially with what they've invested in QB and RB. As for Pitt and Balt, I just think Leary is the exact type of lineman that they always go for. I know those teams have to be willing to give something up but those are three teams I'd think be interested in Leary.

I'm pretty sure Tennessee is going for a power running game. That spells man-blocking.

Leary has now taken down all Cowboys affiliation from his Twitter page. Like a spoiled child.

Ron Leary sends not so subtle message to Cowboys on Twitter

Dallas Cowboys guard Ronald Leary has been absent from the Cowboys' non-mandatory workouts this week after he requested a trade so he could have the opportunity to start for another team's offensive line as he has been relegated to mostly backup duties in Dallas.

In the middle of this holdout, Leary sent a not-so-subtle message to the Cowboys by changing his Twitter page and eliminating any and all references to the Cowboys on his social media profile, Adam Grosbard of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Previously, Leary's bio read, "Offensive Lineman for the DALLAS COWBOYS. Blessed For This Opportunity Wearin The Biggest Chip On My Shoulder EveryDay.. #CowboyNation."

He's since edited it to read, "Offensive Lineman in the National Football Leage.. Blessed For This Opportunity Wearin The Biggest Chip On My Shoulder EveryDay.. #LsUp #GodGotMe."

Leary also changed his profile picture from one of the Cowboys offensive line to him in a Captain America T-shirt. The only thing that remained the same is that he identified himself as still living in Dallas, Texas, but that's not much consolation.

Leary lost his starting job to La'el Collins lost season and is hoping for a change of scenery so he can start again elsewhere. But Thursday Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team was not simply going to give Leary away for nothing.

"We told Ron that he could certainly look around, but we're not in the business of letting go of good football players for little or nothing," Jones said Thursday. "We know it's disappointing when you've been starting and you're not. We'd hoped that he would look at it as 'let's come in here and compete.'"

Can't wait to get a 6th round pick for Leary and then draft a rugby player with that pick.

I'm not upset at Leary for changing his Twitter profile. I do think he's handling it wrong but it's his choice if he wants to act like 14 year old girl. It's not going I change the fact that he will likely be on the team for the whole year. He's really only hurting himself. He's the one driving his price down. If he thinks another team is going to give him a lucrative contract with the way he's acting he's crazy. In fact he may not even get an offer bigger than the deal he's currently signed to.

If he can in however and worked out with his teammates in the gym there might be more teams interested in him. Even if he still didn't want to work out on the field and waited until it was mandatory he would still be perceived as being a team player. Just staying away completely though makes him look like a malcontent. No team is going to give him a big contract with that attitude, especially for a guy that isn't even starting.

I dunno. DeMarco Murray got a big contract from Philly after deleting his Cowboys stuff from his twitter, didnt he?

These guys think differently than us average Joe's. That privilege and entitlement attitude they develop overrides any normal rational thinking.

Murray was also coming off a Rushing Title. Leary got beat out by a rookie. Don't get me wrong Leary is still good but the fact is that he's not a starter on this team. The Cowboys aren't going to trade him unless it's an offer that's clear in their favor and the chances are not good that will happen. So Leary should realize that his only chance to get a good sized contract is by being a good solider and showing the NFL he's a team player and is worthy of a good contract. So far he's not doing that. He's only hurting himself though.

what Leary should have done was quietly go to Jerruh and tell him he wanted a shot at starting so please try and trade him. In return Leary would keep his mouth shut. These guys do not get it that most GMs will be willing to maybe ante up a little more and a little sooner for guys that keep their mouths shut and are team players.

Oh yea, Leary and Murray arent in the same situations, but just like Murray, Leary will wish he had stayed in Dallas. Acting like a little child with hurt feelings isnt becoming of an NFL player. But these guys arent all the brightest stars in the sky either. He provides good depth here, so unless the Cowboys get something of value for him he is more valuable to the team as a quality depth. That may change after some injuries occur around the league and they get a decent offer for him that makes letting him go a good move.

The truth is Leary has very little value outside of the Cowboys and the sheep who think everything with a star on it is magical. My guess is that the Cowboys called a few teams, asked for way too much, and teams laughed at them. Another thing the sheep won't like to hear is that Front Offices around the league have very little respect for our wannabe GM.

The best spot for Leary in my opinion would be Tennessee. They will be running an offense that is perfect for him. They also just lost Byron Bell for the year. He was expected to challenge/win a starting job this year (likely at LG). The training camp and pre-season get going Leary's value will go up.

But I have it on good authority that GMs around the league consider Steve a great football man...

What this tells me is Leary just isn't the RKG. Because the RKG when he gets beaten from his starting job, shuts his mouth and fights scratches claws harder. He gets better, gets in better shape, gets stronger, learns the job more and becomes expert in all nuances of it.

Instead, Leary is demonstrating a prima-donna, entitlement mentality. A my way or the highway type deal. And he wants more money for this?
