Getting "ugly" would require people to actually care enough to get mad. I think the apathy over Jerry and everything he has done means nobody out there really gives a shit anymore. Jerruh has ruined this franchise and the fan base.

Dez is a beast but too inconsistent and can disappear in games. No reason to not wait until the end of the season and see where he stands statistically before making a decision.

Having said that, I have no doubt Jerry re-signs Dez but I wouldn't mind trading him for draft picks since we'll be in a true rebuilding mode after this season.

I also think jerruh is a bit skittish on signing long term deals as well, being as how disastrous the Romo one is.

I think they should franchise him for the next two years (or at least next year unless they can get a very favorable deal with limited cap damage should he get injured) to see how Romo holds up and the rest of the team develops, they'll maintain leverage on Dez and cap flexibility since there won't be any dead money if he gets injured or signs elsewhere. He'll probably cost less per year under the franchise designation due to the variance of the contract of Megatron vs the 5th nest receiver. If the team happens to get deep enough and poised for a run, they could sign him long term, if Romo goes down and the team goes into full on rebuild mode, then Dez will probably be a luxury the team won't be able to utilize to the fullest without a franchise QB
