I finally got my CCW after 2 years in the process. I have had my open carry for over a decade.

I qualified with my S&W Shield that I bought specifically for my CCW. But after shooting it the first time at my qualifying shoot I have determined that it’s not very user friendly for a left handed shooter.

Do any of you have/carry the Springfield Armory Hellcat?

I checked one out at the local gun shop and strangely enough I really like the sights. Plus it will allow me to carry 10+1 instead of 8+1 like my shield.

I have no experience with the Hellcat.

I bought a Sig P365XL when I was considering getting a carry permit in NJ, but with all the restrictions on carrying in NJ and considering I spend most of my time in NY I decided not to bother. The SIG has a 10 round mag and it is smaller than my Springfield Armory XD which I prefer for the range. I have larger hands and the smaller SIG is not as comfortable in my hand as the XD. IMO Springfield is underrated.

I also have poor eyesight for short distances so I added a Holosun red dot sight which is better for my eyes. I can't focus on the metal sights without my glasses but if I wear glasses, the target is a blur. The red dot eliminates the need for lining up the metal sights.

BTW, I have seen some videos about SIG handguns firing unexpectedly if the slide is hit in a certain way. I think that is an issue with the P320. I have not had any experiences like that with the P365XL.

I have never liked any Sig. The grips always feel like I’m gripping a baseball bat. So I stopped looking at them altogether.

I don't get that feeling, and I can only speak to the P365XL. For me the problem is the distance from my grip to the trigger is too short and I have too much finger on the trigger - I am not sure I am explaining it right. It is not a natural feeling and I have a tendency to pull the gun to one side when I squeeze the trigger. But the P365XL is a good size for concealed carry. I might be a great gun for someone with smaller hands or a chick.

Sig's are crap. In the past the screws rusted very easily. Second, they constantly jam. I did some training at their academy in New Hampshire a few years back and we all got Sigs right out of the box. Each and every person I trained with had issues with the guns jamming. I don't carry a Sig....never will. Never had these issues with my Glock and that's what I carry. I just have to be extra careful with the kids because it doesn't have a safety.
