It's got to be addressed sooner or later. Glad they realize that at least, and we might not be stuck like we were when Troy retired.

Let's not forget that it took the combined magic of Steve Pelluer and Kevin Sweeney to position the Cowboys to draft Troy Aikman.

Actually I go a little further back on that, to the '83 draft where Tex tried like hell to work out a deal to get either Elway or Marino, since Tom was already quite disenchanted with Danny White.

Imagine if either guy wound up in Dallas.

I just hope they don't force the issue. If the value is there take the guy but don't force it just for the sake of finding Romo's successor.

Gil Brandt claimed it was Elway. Then again, Brandt claims that about virtually every top pick made for a 10 yr period or so starting in the mid 70's

We didn't need to trade up for Marino. He was available and we passed on him to take Jim Jeffcoat.

Ultimately even though we had some tough yrs in mid to late 80's I'm glad it worked out the way it did, because Aikman was the ultimate winner and Marino was the ultimate stat whore who played small in most of his big games.
