There is too much cap money going to declining players and too many holes remaining. Blow it up. Jerry is hanging on in a last ditch effort to make a run with the core of this team, but the aging core is just not good enough. With the reworking of these contracts , they will be paying too much in dead money to field a decent team in the near future. This is one of the biggest preventable messes that Jerry has ever gotten involved in. If something don't change, we are screwed for the next several years.

I don't even think that Jerry is thinking about making one, last run with these decisions. I believe it's the new stadium. He needs to give people a reason to buy his tickets. False hope sells.

Romo balking? Would Vikings give up two 1st rd picks (23,25), a 4th (from Det), & conditional 1st next year (if he signs extension w/Min)?

I would seriously consider it for all of that. Otherwise in Midswats scenario, no I wouldn't trade him for what you suggested. We'd be seriously getting ripped off.

The problem with getting rid of Romo is that you're admitting a rebuild. At that point why would we even consider keeping any player over 30? Might as well trade them all.

The answer, realistically, is to extend Romo and keep plugging in pieces. We're really not that far off from being a good playoff caliber team.

BUT, in that Vikings scenario mentioned above... I would be seriously tempted to start the rebuild. Essentially 3 #1s... Not sure if you can beat that.

I say stay the course for two reasons.

No matter how much compensation and cap room we have I have no faith in this organization to make the right decisions.

Ad secondly because I like that group still of witten, ware, romo, Austin and would love to see them win big together here.

Probably not going to happen and the sensible thing to do was to fire the whole staff this year and allow a new competent staff to come in and make these decisions. Like Jeff fisher saying we are not trying to win now last year...

I just don't trust the front office to hire the right people or to let them make good decisions.

Ad the reason it will never happen is because u can't sell 90000 seats during a rebuilding and Jerry is old. They use the blitz to constantly sell the stadium so people buy stadium tour tickets for gods sake.

Yeah, even the first next year will be a late first with Romo and Peterson over there. This team is so hit or miss with late 1st rounders, I wouldn't like even 3 firsts.

The only thing they are missing is a legit WR. And there are some of those in free agency.

With Romo that team would be a contender. They already are to some extent but they are limited by their QB. He'd give them a QB that they could actually depend on to bring the team back if needed. With Peterson however, they wouldn't need him to bring them back every single week.

He'd likely kill it over there. Play action with AP would be devastating.

Pretty much. This team has no real hope right now and it's because Jerry is a fuck up GM.

Dallas' best hope is that they can stay almost completely healthy and become the next Cinderella story.

I don't see how we could turn down 4 picks. But I wouldn't like it.

At 8-8 there is no way we could not take that kind of thing.

But it would suck watching orton get sacked 50 times.

Most fans would rather watch a "competitive" 8-8 or 9-7 team than do the right thing and totally bottom out. Problem is, Jimmy's not around to conduct the rebuilding process.

It would suck watching Orton do anything knowing he's nothing but a JAG stopgap.

If anything, we should have seen if anyone would give us any kind of pick for him. Maybe we could've essentially bought a mid-round pick from a QB desperate team like the Chiefs or Cards.

After yesterday buffalo could be interested too.

Maybe that genius mike Lombardi in Cleveland who thinks romo isn't very good would like his backup first hand!

The only way our fortunes will change is if JJ somehow gets banned permanently from day to day operations similar to Steinbrenner. Otherwise, we'll be overpaying shitty players and pounding through shitty coaches repetitively for quite awhile. Stephen Jones is a fucking moron, but I think he might have enough brains to bring in a good GM and scouts.

I bet the Vikes would do that in a heartbeat if they were ready to give up on Ponder, which I'm sure they aren't.

I wouldn't be happy with a 23 and a 25 for Romo.

I would nut myself if that trade happened. And then break my TV when Jerry wastes the picks on CBs and TEs.

I hope Romo tells this front office to go fuck itself.

.

I hope so too, then goes somewhere else and doesnt win shit there either. So we can see what kind of lame ass excuses you come up with to defend him then.

I disagree with you. With better coaching, this team could do very well. Aging core or not, there are a number of teams out there that is not as talented as the Cowboys, but they succeed because of coaching and a fucking FO that knows what it's doing.

Take a look at the 49ers. Except for OL, and a push for RB, the Cowboys are more talented than the 49ers, significantly so at QB and WR. And yet the Cowboys have been in the same fucking system for 6 years, and Harbaugh comes from the college level and in the two years that he is there, he has the 49ers playing for the Super Bowl.

Without Romo they would address the OL (remember it's his escapability that makes a good OL moot), which would make for another 8-8 record with Orton, which would keep us in the middle once again and in QB limbo the next (god knows how many) years.
I still would do it.

Romo sucks so bad that the lions give a 4th to get him in their division

Id consider it if we got a haul of picks because that way you can get a fair shot at teddy bridgewater. Shit get two 1sts for ware.

But then it's like, look At Orton he thinks he's a person sitting on the couch.

Considering we sucked for years before him and are relevant now with him I think I know what the problem is

love Romo and want to see him, Ware, and Witten geta legit shot at a a title but with the moves we are making, they have evry little chance.

Then again, what good will rebuilding do if the same jackazz is making the decisions?
