Louisiana
Montana

We can thank the fucking nanny state politicians who have the audacity to believe they need to protect people from themselves. They killed internet poker and it looks like they're well on their way to doing it to fantasy sports despite the convenient carve out in the UIEGA for fantasy sports, the lottery and horse racing.

Interestingly, I learned as I was talking with one of the higher-up muckety-mucks at FanDuel - it's the state of New York they're in trouble with because they are headquartered there. That's why Boston-based DraftKings has no such restrictions - and why the two companies are merging.

Socialism wins again - FanDuel is leaving NY and taking its 400 employees with it, to Boston.

On the state level - yes some states are defining this as gambling, flying in the face of the federal exceptions for this activity. (Uber-Red state Texas is one of them.) DraftKings is fighting them all in the federal courts, but of course this takes time. Meanwhile they do not restrict play in any of the states listed.

Irks the shit out me how we empower these assholes to legislate our lives on matters they should have nothing to do with (except perhaps reasonable regulation requiring deposits be kept segregated for each customer, much like a bank).

Go back and look at those states you listed who are banning daily fantasy sports. It's a mix of red and blue states.

Tyrannical governments are not confined to socialist ones.

I even mentioned they were fighting Texas. I made it quite clear and unequivocal - The socialism comment was directed at NY specifically, as it is the only one running FanDuel out of the state and losing 400 jobs as a result.

The tyranny of religious mores mostly, is what's driving the states listed to declare this gambling in spite of the federal designation stating its exception. Not anything to do with redness or blueness. Perhaps you should read my posts, for context?

Hey Dooms, how'd you do in your fantasy game? Luck had a pretty good game against the Jets but I'm not sure he hit the forty burger you needed

No he didn't, they pulled him midway through the 3rd quarter I think, when the score was 41-3. He scored 29.7 points though, and of course with the lousy rest of the roster I had for that I finished waaaaaay out of the money, in 7216th place.

Sucks for fantasy scoring when it's a total blowout like that and they take their foot off the gas. I was rooting for the Jest to start scoring back when it was 14-0 hahaha.

lol, fantasy football fucks up my fandom cuz I start rooting for crazy shit to happen so my FF team can win.

I quit playing years ago because Id have a team kicking ass with several key players on good teams and when the playoffs started, they sat all my guys and I was one and done, no mullah.

Haven't played for 15 years but decided to play this year. I won the best record for the regular season for a small $-day but I limped across the goal line and yet again, my main guys and starting to come back down to earth. I bet I'll be one and done AGAIN despite going 11-2 in the regular season. I've got a bye, so maybe I'll get lucky and one of the big scorers has a bad week and gets knocked out.

One oddity is that I was doing so well, I was in first place the entire season and always last in waiver order so I couldn't improve my team. Somehow I've gotten there with the roster I initially drafted. Picked up a few guys but seemed to always be a week early or late when they had their big weeks. Ex: Did start Ajayi during his two huge scoring weeks, finally get on board and he hasn't come close to that since.

I'm hoping Demarco Murray gets a 2 week severe head cold to keep him out of weeks 15 & 16 so Derrick Henry can come in and get all the snaps. Thats about the only shot I have to improve going forward.

Yeah I've never played the traditional-type leagues. Only and ever, just dabble on DK. I'm probably about $60 to the red on it, having won some money here and there but mostly finishing out of the money. Won $10 last week after spending $8 to get in the 3 contests I was in.

Over time I've actually made quite a nice chunk of change playing the Draft Kings "horses." I'm about 5K to the good overall. One decent win put me in a position to spend more in better events. So I'm still hanging in, casting my lines and occasionally reeling in decent fish! No huge wins yet but I'm still in there every week when the NFL is playing.

Ahhh, Man. Just imagine.

A stat correction that changed a sack to a tackle for loss in the Chicago Bears-Los Angeles Rams game Monday caused a $997,000 fantasy football heartbreak for a 41-year-old insurance agent in St. Louis.

For 30 minutes after Monday's game ended, Rob Huntze thought he had won the $1 million first prize in a DraftKings contest.

Everything had worked out perfectly for Huntze down the stretch of the Rams' 24-10 win. One of Huntze's lineups that featured both the Bears' and Rams' defenses had scored 92.79 points, the most out of the 176,470 entries. His computer screen showed a $1 million first prize.

He texted with friends and called his parents to share the exciting news and took his dog Achilles for a quick walk.

When he returned, he wanted to refresh his computer screen again, "just to see myself on top," he said. "And, then, boom."

A sack that had been credited to the Bears' defense late in the fourth quarter was changed to a running play, a 3-yard loss by Rams quarterback Jared Goff. That 3-yard loss dropped Huntze into a tie for sixth place with 18 other entries, and his prize money dropped from $1 million to $3,078.94.
