Shefter intimating teams will have interest in Aubrey, even with the 2nd rd pick price tag.

If you are a playoff caliber team drafting at the bottom of the 2nd rd and have a major kicker problem, sacrificing a 2nd for the ultimate weapon is not beyond the realm of possibility. The question is would we match it.

I like Aubrey...I really do. But he does you no good kicking a 65 yard FG when you can't force a punt on D. If you get a 2nd rounder for a kicker, then you take it. Unless the money is/was in line with what you were willing to pay. But I certainly don't over pay.

I can def see arguments for and against it. 10 mils for a kicker does seem excessive, but is it excessive enough to say "we will only pay you 8 but not 10" in the grand scheme of things? It's 2 mils more on a 300+ cap.

That said, if you could find a suitable replacement (understanding, it's a significant risk) then getting a 2nd rd pick back is very intriguing.

Looks like he intends to see what offers are out there, of course anybody wanting to offer him something has to pay us the 2nd rd pick (unless for some reason we agreed to settle for less, which I cannot imagine in this instance).

Things might get real interesting.

Another cryptic tweet from Maxx Crosby.

Local (and some national) reporters have been talking up the trade rumor and according to some it may be coming down to the Bears or Cowboys.

This was a little surprising, he's definitely a quality backup IOL and he's completely free now. To protect him they'd have to tender him at the same level as TJ Bass (2nd rd pick, around 6 mils) so maybe they felt like he wouldn't get that much on the open market.

Not sure who the backup C would be if Hoffman leaves. They've had Bass take practice reps there (and maybe he took some snaps there in preseason, I dont recall for sure) but if he leaves then a new backup C/G could be on the menu day three of the draft.

Just say no to Crosby if it costs us premier draft picks. I suspect there's some validity to the rumor considering this is how Jerry runs the show. He's all splash and will keep the stands full another season.

Crosby really isn't just splash, if he's on the field he's a huge difference maker.

Him playing on the same front as Quinnen Williams would be pretty elite. Neither has played with another guy THAT good on lines they've been on.

Personally I don't think we'll get him. But if the cost were the 20th pick and maybe a mid rd pick next yr I'd have to seriously think about. I'd rather see them keep 12 because they'll either land a top notch player or be able to flip that pick for more draft picks. Under no circumstance should they trade both 1sts straight up for Crosby though, that's too much. (and I don't think even a consideration as it'd be more than we got for Parsons)

No way, no how. I don't trade a first round pick for a guy coming off a 10 sack season and a meniscus injury with 90 plus million guaranteed over the next 3 years. I just don't know why everyone is so hell bent on trading those first round picks on anything other than a QB. It's why we are where we are but we just want to keep wasting draft capital.

He played with the injury and wanted to keep playing in games, it was the Raiders who shut him down.

Like I said I doubt it happens, but for the later 1st I'd definitely have to think about it.

The Rams have adopted a strategy of trading early picks for proven players and its worked pretty well for them.

Looks like Cowboys thought they had a deal done for Crosby last night. Crosby's cryptic texts probably were because he thought a deal was getting done.

Looks like we may be out on him now.

Hendrickson was really, really good from 2020-2024 and had back to back 17 1/2 sack seasons in 23 and 24, but he's 31 and coming off a significant injury that shut him down last yr. Reportedly wants a big payday too. Def some risk involved.
