This bill is the opposite of what we need. We need to stop sending the message to the rest of the world that we want them to come here and claim asylum.
A border bill should not contain any money for other countries.
It should close the border 100%. No quotas, no thresholds, no waivers or exemptions. There is a process to claim asylum and it should not be to come across the border illegally. Asylum should only be granted for people who are actually persecuted.
It should make it illegal for anyone, including the government to hire illegals. Penalties for violating this law should be harsh, including jail time.
It should make it illegal of states to set up sanctuary cities or areas. States that do so will lose federal funding.
It should make it illegal to give illegals privileges like drivers licenses. And of course, no benefits should be allowed for illegals.
Take away all the handouts and they will go home, and not come back.
It should remove the possibility of citizenship from anyone who comes here illegally, unless they return home for a period of 5 years before returning legally.
It should end the anchor baby rule. Children of illegals will never become citizens and can never vote. This will remove the incentive for Democrats to want more illegals here in this country.
Illegals that remain in this country will not be counted in the census for the purpose of redistricting or appointment of representatives.
Once all the incentives have been removed for illegals and Democrats the border crisis will end.
But we should still build a wall. A wall sends the message "you are not welcome here unless you are invited".

On Tuesday night, the House voted 214-213 to impeach Mayorkas, with three Republicans joining all Democrats in opposition to the measure.
As the GOP clings to its House majority, Republicans are making the case that they are the party of immigration restrictions and border security. But Republicans have complicated that narrative with their refusal to actually consider bipartisan border enforcement policy, which is why impeaching Mayorkas has become essential to the GOP’s tough-on-immigration message.
House Republicans have been gearing up for months to impeach Mayorkas—the top Biden administration official who oversees immigration and border security. Republicans claim Mayorkas has “refused to comply” with immigration law and “breached the public trust” for his handling of the Southern border.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) finally put the articles of impeachment to a floor vote last week. But in a humiliating show of dysfunction and disorganization, Republicans were one vote short. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) was absent and three Republicans defected, joining every House Democrat to vote “no” and topple the impeachment effort.
The GOP’s second stab at impeachment Tuesday was successful, however. Thanks to the House GOP, Mayorkas is now the second cabinet secretary to ever be impeached, joining Secretary of War William Belknap (who was impeached in 1876) for the dubious distinction.
In a statement after the vote, Johnson said the House Homeland Security Committee had spent the past year taking “a careful and methodical approach” to the investigation, adding Mayorkas “deserves to be impeached.”
“Since this Secretary refuses to do the job that the Senate confirmed him to do, the House must act,” Johnson said.

This has been going on for years. Have you noticed there are no reliable statistics on deaths resulting from illegal immigrants. I have seen estimates as high as 4500 per year but the FBI does not keep statistics for illegals so we don't really know. But the empirical evidence suggests that many of the illegal that come here are not wanted in their home countries because they are not law abiding productive citizens. We are importing crime from other countries, as if we do not have enough of our own crime.
But by all means, ban "assault weapons" because they are responsible for a few hundred deaths at the hands of crazy people.
