The 2025 Major League Baseball season is scheduled to begin on March 18–19 with a two-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs held in Tokyo, Japan, before the rest of the regular season, which is set to run from
March 27 to September 28.

Why are the Dodgers always the first team to play on opening day? They don't have back-to-back WS championships!​

MAJOR CHANGES FOR FIGHTINS 2025 SEASON ​

The Phillies became the first team in Major League Baseball history to strike out 19 times & still win an Opening Day game, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. They are now, 1-6 with 19 or more strike out. Lovely!

They squandered opportunity after opportunity in the playoffs last season because of their inability to be disciplined at the plate, chasing pitches & going for the hero play instead of just getting on base by any means necessary.

And after an offseason where the team & players talked about changing their approach at the plate, it was hard to tell if this game was a replay from ones that took place late in 2024 or if it was a new campaign altogether. If they don't fix this issue, winning the division is as far as they'll go yet once again! ?

Phillies lost their closer, Jose Alvarado, due to an 80-game suspension for violating MLB's drug policy. The suspension, effective immediately, was issued after a positive test for external testosterone.

This leaves a significant hole in the Phillies' bullpen and requires them to find a replacement for Alvarado. But, the Phils are currently holding the top spot in the NL East and also boast the No. 1 record in the entire National League with a record of 29-18. Their win-loss percentage is .617. They have a season-high 11 games over .500 and have won 16 out of their last 21 games.
